Just opening my jar of quince jelly that Judy gave us on our visit to The Pavilion some months ago - and it reminded me that I promised to review - it was just sooooo lovely! Gorgeous architecturally designed haven - and yes we also had a tour through John's Place - definitely on the 'must come back' with friends... More

Thank goodness we had an absolutely wonderful break at Johns House and The Pavillion. 2015 has started off crazily, hence the lateness of this Review. From our first email to Nick and Jude, everything flowed. Nothing was too much trouble, or difficult. This was our first holiday not travelling to Europe, or staying in one place for more than three... More

From my first email to our parting fairwell John's house was a perfect 3 nights stay in Haverlock North/Hastings. The house and grounds are beautiful and quiet. Everthing about the house is comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and the homemade breakfast goodies a fantastic bonus! The location to downtown Haverlock North is easy and a nice walk if you... Thank you so much for your kind remarks. We get a lot of pleasure from meeting guests from many different parts of the world and sharing our little piece of paradise. Regarding beaches locally. The coastal area from north of Napier City around the 'bite' of Hawke Bay to Cape Kidnappers has stoney, rather than sand, beaches. The beaches south... More

I had the pleasure of arranging for 6 international agriculture experts to stay overnight in Havelock North. We chose to put them all up at John's House and the Pavilion. It was perfect: beautiful garden setting close to the village, very comfortable and sophisticated decor but still felt like home and marvelous hosts in Nick and Judy Pattison. This is... More

The proximity to the lovely Havelock North Village is a big bonus to us and our guests. The seclusion and absolute privacy of John's House and The Pavilion is rather unique. More

What a wonderful place to stay if you are a couple or two couples. Built by the famous architect John Scott, the interesting angles in every room make you wonder how he figured out the design and drawings - all the rooms work extremely well, very spacious and practical use of ventilation (in addition to heat pump and fire). Kitchen... More

We had four relaxing days over Christmas at The Pavilion but it was not all smooth sailing. We were welcomed with a pitcher of nice lemon juice and a freshly baked loaf of bread. It was a comfortable place with a pleasant green outlook. We soon found that, despite the advertising, there was no WiFi available at The Pavilion. You... More

Ouch! We really do appreciate your feedback. The Wi fi has been an intermittent problem for which we now trust we have found a reliable solution with the installation of a new hard wired signal repeater, replacing the recalcitrant wireless one. We are rather annoyed that the less than pristine pan escaped the eagle eye of the housekeeper. While we... More

We spent two night of our honeymoon staying within The Pavilion but were also shown through John's place which would be great for a couple of couple or a small family. The Pavilion is a self contained building set out on a couple of acres of property with beautiful green grass all around with cows, lamas, and a pig that... More

Thanks for your terrific review, Luke. It was lovely that you could have such a memorable location and the Pavilion for part of your honeymoon. We've been here since '88! More

This beautiful architectural home is welcoming, peaceful and a place to relax and unwind. Based between Havelock, Hastings and an easy commute to Napier, we biked/ran Te Mata and PanPac Mountain bike park, found the best cafes, caught a movie at Havelock and everytime came back "home". Really recommend it, and Nick, one of the owners, is great.

We had our wedding a John's House. We invited 27 people, we all had lunch seated inside and then in the afternoon we enjoyed live music outside in the gardens. All the wedding guests commented on the location and peaceful surroundings, and our wedding photos look so beautiful with the trees and gardens in the background. Our hosts were amazing!... More

We were really happy you could have such a special day at John's House. A small daytime wedding on the shortest day of the year was certainly an unusual event, and your beautiful photos reflected the happy occasion.Thank you, - and Nick enjoyed using his charcoal barbecue! More

We were very lucky to have 3 nights (and gloriously sunny Hawkews Bay winters days) in The Pavillion. A very well designed wee house. Warm, despite the frosts. Beautiful to look at, practical and very comfortable to stay in and a form of Dog Nirvana with wide lawns, adjacent stream and paddocks full of interesting creatures. Thank you Nick and... More

We love our clear blue sky winter days, and dogs really enjoy Nick's fab lawns and the walking and bike trails. We hope you'll come again and get equally good weather next time, though you don't necessarily have to have a sunny day to discover the best of Hawke's Bay... More
