We stayed here over the Easter weekend and had an amazing time. The cottages are clean, beautifully furnished and have everything you would need. It is a quick two minute walk down to the ferry/ restaurants so very convenient location. We would recommend Russell Cottages for anybody looking to stay in the Bay of Islands. It was just the two... Stayed in No. 7. - A 4 bedroom house within the complex. Only used two bedrooms, others were closed off. Very clean and tidy. Very spacious. Very private considering proximity to other cottages. A very short walk to the Duke of Marlborough hotel for a great evening meal.

The accommodation is a short walk from the foot passenger ferry and the village centre. Easy to walk with suitcases. I was on my own with 2 young children and we arrived after the reception had closed. This was no problem as key and information was left for me. The cottage was beautiful, had a garden and was very well... More

Dear Reviewer Thank you for your comments. I totally agree with you, Russell is a lovely town, full of character and surrounding natural beauty. With the northern and southern shores only 10 minutes walk apart and, with many historical properties within the town centre, there is much for people to enjoy. The Russell Cottages of course is right in the... More

Stayed in a 3 bedroom cottage and one thing we noticed was that perhaps the foundation in our particular cottage was starting to un-level. Noticeable enough when standing and when placing cylindrical things on the floor - would roll to one side. Not a huge deal so long as building meets safety standards! (perhaps it has been remediated by now!).... More

We recently had a family holiday at russell cottages and we extremely disappointed with our stay as it was totally unsuitable for our young child. The apartments do not have any air conditioning for the warmer weather and to cool the apartment down you need to have the windows and doors open. However the windows and doors do not have... More

Dear Reviewer I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy this lovely property which continues to be enjoyed by hundreds of families with young children every year, many who continue to return anually. In fact this properrty is rated Northland's Number 1 Family destination and Number 8 NZ wide. The cottages, while built in colonial style, is modern and meets all regulatory... More

Clean, friendly and well-run from everything we saw. We only stayed for two nights but could definitely have extended our stay. Well-located, spacious and well laid out. We had a few questions and (arguably) fussy requests which the concierge was very happy to deal with for us. The area is just fantastic - with the sleepy relaxed village of Russell... More

The Russell Cottages were the perfect place to stay, good amenities (small pool & Jacuzzi), walk to the strip with restaurants, cafes, bars and galleries. The 4 bedroom was great with 1 king on the main floor with an attached bathroom, 2 queen rooms upstairs + 1 room with 2 twins. There are also 2 bathrooms on the top floor.... More

My cottage was very spacious, kitchen well appointed, huge bed (2 king singles pushed together) and was a five min walk from the Russel ferry. We stayed in a 4 bedroom. The rooms are very nice and there is a full kitchen. The layout of the resort is great. There is a very good pool and bbq facilities plus a kids playground. We will definitely be going back.
