The views, the food, the service, the room - all were top rate. We had a great time and would thoroughly recommend it to others. The history of the area is fascinating and to stay in such a lovely place just added to the enjoyment for us.

Excellent location on the bay and with the room upgrades planned will make this a gem. Travelled with our 8 yr old grandson and the staff/hotel were most accommodating. Dinner was excellent and the accompanying wine list most impressive. Lovely warm atmosphere with the fire. A return trip is in the planning. Many thanks to all the friendly staff.

We really enjoyed the hospitality and friendly nature of Russell generally and this hotel specifically. The whole area s breathtaking. we arrived by ferry and left for Auckland driving the coast road - the most amazing scenery we have ever seen. The Hotel is really like stepping back in time - the proprietors have got the mix just right. We... More

Good rooms and as soon as you step out of the hotel, you are confronted with the most amazing view of the Bay of Islands......Also dinner at the Duke is highly recommended. It's really worth the extra dollar.

Right on the water in the pretty and historic village of Russell this hotel is full of atmosphere, very warm and welcoming and a great place for dinner. We stayed here for one night and had a lovely time. During winter they offer a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast package. Considering the quality of the food it is excellent value in a historical hotel right on the waters edge in picturesque Russell. The food is exceptional and I would return for lunch or dinner if in the area. The... More

Cold outside, warm and relaxing inside. Great service, great food, excellent water front room and free wifi. Oldest hotel in NZ. We would highly recommend it. Older property with great atmosphere and history.

We stayed for a couple of nights on the grab one deal. The venue is amazing, we had eaten there before and were pleased to stay there. Amazing old building, very warm when it's cold outside with a nice fire inside. Also, seems to be a very popular place as was always busy with guests for dinner - locals and... More

I would highly recommend staying at the Duke of Marlborough to anyone who is visiting the Bay of Islands area. It is stunning! The location is perfect, right on the water front and so close to bars/cafes/restaurants or the ferry if you want to pop over to Paihia. So unique with only 25 hotel rooms, and the decor reflects the... More
