We stayed for 4 nights in March 2014. It's difficult to find the superlatives to do this place justice: location, views, accommodation, food and hospitality and service were simply wonderful. Russel is a lovely place and from there we vistied Pahia, The Waitangi Treaty grounds, Cape Rianga and took a Bay of Islands cruise to the Cape Brett Hole in... More

We spent two wonderful nights in this lovely home high above Russell. The rooms was impeccable, the deck was inviting and comfortable and the hostess was so gracious. She not only offered us a fantastic breakfast but also filled us in on some local history about the Maori people. We left feeling very pampered!

We couldn't have been happier with our stay at Pukematu Lodge. The owners are genuinely nice people and the perfect hosts. Every aspect of the lodge was wonderful including the stunning views, delicious breakfast, a beautiful deck, and very comfortable rooms. Some rainy weather forced us inside one afternoon and the common room was first class all the way. Pukematu... More

The plan was for the four of us to end our 4 week tour of the islands with a relaxing 4 night stay somewhere nice. This place exceeded our expectations and I would endorse the other 5 star comments which say it all. Almost 360 degrees of views around the Bay of Islands, a wonderful patio decking area, superb rooms,... More

This is a beautiful property that overlooks both bays and the outside patio was a great place to hang out and relax. We enjoyed wine and discussion with other guests, and Kerry brought out home made dips and local cheeses for us to nibble on. The fresh flowers in the room was a classy touch as well. The rooms were... More

Having just left Pukematu Lodge yesterday, we just had to write a comment on this site as to just how well we were looked after. The property is in a super location and few hundred meters from the village centre offering fantastic views 360 degrees. When we arrived we were informed that the owner, Colwyn, was away on business and... More

IIt is some years since stayed at Pakematu Lodge. From making the booking arrangements to arriving and all during our stay, we were made to feel as if we were staying with good friends. The accommodation was wonderful and even after several years we still talk about Pakematu Lodge and our wonderful hosts. For any visitors to New Zealand our... More

Colwyn was our host at Pukematu Lodge, which is a beautiful 5 star Lodge. Both the room and food were excellent, and very relaxing. Colwyn gave us a very informative tour of Russell, and then a boat trip in the Bay Of Islands. We even caught a 20 pound King Fish ,which we had for dinner that night. The entire stay... More

We are a party of four adults spending five weeks in NZ - Pukematu Lodge was by far the best accommodation of our stay. Colwyn (and Mum!) were fantastic hosts - what a beautiful home and their welcome was outstanding. Fantastic views and mouthwatering breakfasts. Colwyn's knowledge of the area was spot on and he willingly arranged our dolphin trip.... More

We chose Pukematu Lodge for our wedding on Valentine's day last year. All I can say is that the website does not do it justice, we were totally blown away with the beauty of the place. We had booked the 3 suites for ourselves and our 2 children and their spouses, for 2 days, but none of us wanted to... More
