Great location to the waterfront , and associated restaurants. Woody and Johnny have a lovely home steeped in local heritage, very nicely appointed furnishings and interesting art. The house is kept very clean and nicely appointed. Woody is a fabulous garrulous host who prepares a great breakfast and libations and appetizers each afternoon. We had lots of fun in Nelson... We had a wonderful two night stay at Wakefield Quay, with hosts Woodie and Johnny making us feel very welcome. The location has a gorgeous veranda with views over the Nelson harbour and ideal for watching the sun go down as the hosts served perfectly chilled wine. Breakfasts very hearty and delicious, with fresh fruit and eggs to order. Thank... More

It was a real pleasure to be welcomed into Woodi and Johnny's historic heritage home in Nelson. The building has been lovingly restored and renovated over the last 25 years. The commanding position over the harbour entrance provides an ever changing vista. Our first morning we saw Orca feeding in the harbour entrance, just off Haulashore Island, Woodi was fast... More

A beautiful B&B. The location is excellent and the property serves as a good base for day trips to Abel Tasman or the Nelson wineries. The main attraction though is Woodi, the proprietress. She's a real kick (in a great way). Her enthusiasm is infectious and she is full of great suggestions. She also is well known and can snag... More

The best place we stayed whilst touring New Zealand. The Crow's Nest room was great overlooking the bay with great terrace to soak up the last of the sun's rays. Woodi is an excellent host and gave great recommendations for eating out and visiting various places in the area. Food was excellent as were the nibbles and wine in the... More

Woodi's name deserved to be in the title of this review as she is what makes your stay there memorable. While the crows nest was an incredible room, the views of the sails at sunset were great, and the breakfasts were delicious - Woodi is the main attraction here! She is one of the most genuine people you will ever... More

Wow what a great stay, it really is the little touches that makes Wakefield Quay so special. We stayed for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon, we stayed in so many lovely places but Wakefield Quay was a standout. Woody the hostess really with the mostess was so much fun, she welcomed us like family into her home. We... More

I had the pleasure of staying at Wakefield Quay House for two night before, and two nights after, a wonderful trip to Abel Tasman in late December/early January. It was a real home from home - only with a better view, including from the bathroom! - and Woodi's genuine warmth made it a truly enjoyable experience. I had the opportunity... More

This B&B comes with a lot of personal touch. We felt we really not to know the hosts and found them really helpful. The rooms are both lovely and look right out at the water. The breakfast wine and nibbles each day were delicious and the dinner and touring tips were spot on.

Beautifully decorated rooms, stunning views of the ocean and Nelson harbour. Located on the Quay road across from the ocean. Warm hospitality and excellent service. Breakfasts were delicious and creative and wine and cheese in late afternoon was a bonus. Only issue was traffic noise one night. Lots to do downtown and easily walkable.
