Wonderful views and a most hospitable hostess. Her approach to guests is friendly and professional. We loved the mountain views from the cottage and thrilled to hear the bleating of the sheep and the heehaws of her (ancient) donkeys.It was a most peaceful stay and the breakfasts offered were substantial and very tasty. In February, we stayed at Doone Cottage to visit Abel Tasman National Park. The B&B sits on a hill overlooking the Motueka valley with a river running below and fields with grazing deer adjacent to it. The setting is peaceful, and the grounds are beautiful. January 2012 will be our fourth visit to New Zealand and Doone Cottage. The hospitality and food are superb, the setting beautiful and restful. You'll need transport, but it's well worth the trip up to beautiful Motueka Valley to reach Doone Cottage. Set above the river, the beautiful garden is a sun-trap.
