During our road trip of the South island we stayed in the Crows Nest for one night and wished could have stayed longer. The views looking across over Nelson and the bay were amazing. The house is amazing. The facilities were great and had everything we needed. I would def recommend for any one looking to stay in Nelson to... More

Thanks for your wonderful comments. One comment we hear on a regular basis is "we wish we could stay longer" .... when your trying to decide if to spend one day in Nelson or two ... pick two or more. There's lots to do and even if you don't feel like doing anything you can sit and relax and check... More

The Wheelhouse Inn is set into the upper slopes of a hill looking out over Tasman Bay. The views are wonderful. The accommodation is really a series of separate flats, all furnished to a good level. You are out of the town centre so would need a car. The Hetzel's who run the B&B are very friendly and helpful. Really... More

We stayed in the Captains Quarters for three nights with another couple. We were created with a personal welcome note on the door and the information booklet gave us ideas of where to eat and things to do. The Quarters was equip with everything we needed. With a spectacular view from the balcony including a BBQ. It made it hard... More

A pleasure to stay here, amazing views, everything we needed and the most friendly, welcoming host. Bikes to borrow, spot on advice for restaurants, wineries and other locations. Will be highly recommending to others. Thank you for sharing your slice of paradise with us

when you first arrive and step out onto the balcony , you know you made a good choice ! We were well greeted by owner Ralph, and as mine host he was there but not intrusive...thank you. We were in the Crows Nest ,the highest of the "cabins"... And probably the best view. Driving up and down to the property... More

The owners of this property are charm itself. They were away when we got there and they told us they would be and the key would be in the door (Its that type of trusting place) . We walked in and our jaws dropped when we saw the view from all the rooms. Its spread over three floors with a... More

We felt so lucky to have found this 'compound.' Host Ralph and his wife Sally (and their dog Lloyd) have created the perfect perch in the hills above the sea with views that soar over the bay. There were 8 of us; we rented the Wheel House and Chart House -- both exceptionally clean and comfortable with enchanting outside spaces... More

We stayed in the Wheelhouse, a distinct structure on this site. Each unit has spectacular views northwards over the bay and towards Abel Tasman National Park on the horizon. We used the high-powered binoculars to observe the sailing race (in which our host, Ralph competed) and all the shipping traffic. Nelson makes a superb base for visiting the north end... More

Stunning view of the sea. Nice house, fully equipped kitchen, BBQ on patio. Furniture a bit tired. But good price for for the amount of space and the view. A bit too far to walk to the town center, but short drive away. Watch the driveway, very steep.

My partner and i stayed in the Crows Nest. The views from the outside balcony were lovely and the large window in the bedroom made it feel open and looked out over the water. The houses maritime theme was lovingly styled and Ralph was very welcoming and always happy to give us some advice on where to visit.
