Hi Had worked at that Motel in1986/87 was a great place to work I think it was new then, went back to Nelson for a week holiday and stayed at the motel Oct 2012 and yes it definitely needs an update although the staff there were very helpful, rooms were tidy and clean, and suited us, everywhere we wanted to... Cheap accommodation and you get what you pay for - blown fuses, broken shower head and bed bugs to top it off

Stayed there for 2 nights at the rooftop apartment. Great location- in the middle of Trafalgar Street. Friendly staff. Quiet environment.

Stayed total of 6 nights spread over three different time blocks during feb 2011. Very well located in Nelson CBD, bit old but priced accordingly. Mostly self contained units, owner very friendly and tries hard to assist. first and last night went horribly wrong due to bed bugs. there is nought that can be done to compensate for this ordeal... We got into Nelson a bit late and there were not many rooms available. We chose Mid City purely for its location and that was the only positive about it unfortunately. This hotel falls under "you get what you pay for" and we were very happy to only be there for one night It was ok for a cheap overnight... More

We couldn't find any good hotels in Nelson that were average priced. Then I googled and this place popped up. The Mid City Motel in the middle of Nelson is the place to stay if you are not looking to pay an arm and a leg. The rooms are huge and of course you can choose what bedding configuration you... More

The building is pretty outdated, as are the rooms. At night the hallway for the rooms is dark, which is slightly unnerving. The door lock mechanisms are not great. I actually... More

As the name indicates, you can't get more centrally located. Room was spacious, but furnishings could use and update. We stayed on a Friday night and were delighted to find that the city market was located right behind the motor lodge on Saturday morning.
