Our hosts, Richard and James, provided us with helpful tips for our sightseeing adventures. The views of Tasman Bay were lovely and our room with kitchen was charming. Breakfasts were elegant. We felt that we received personal attention and appreciated the display of our USA flag. We highly recommend Te Puna Wei.

We stayed at Te Puna Wai for three nights as part of our honeymoon and had a terrific experience. The B&B is really cool, funky, and located in a great place in Nelson, about a mile from the downtown area. James and Richard were caring and helpful hosts through our stay. Highly recommended

It made a pleasant change to sample the personal service at a small B&B compared to the various motels/hotels we had stayed in previously on our trip to NZ (although those have all been good too). Te Puna Wai was a lovely place to stay. James, our host, was most attentive, friendly and helpful. From offering beer and wine when... More

My wife & I spent 8 nights travelling up the West Coast with our final 2 nights in Nelson. What a beautiful way to end our trip staying in this stunning property. The self contained apartment was very roomy and had everything you could possibly need. James & Richard are fantastic hosts who enjoy engaging with their guests and the... More

Very comfortable large rooms with great attention to detail to make the stay more comfortable. Beautiful views. Our hosts were lovely - there was even a Finnish flag on the flagpole when we arrived. We felt at home and could easily have stayed longer. We will plan to stay here again next time we are in Nelson.

My girlfriend and I stayed in Nelson for one night after spending a couple of days exploring the wineries. With no accomodation booked we drove around the area until we found a suburb we'd like to stay. After cold calling at a nearby lodge, we were recommended the Te Puna Wai Lodge and it was absolutely perfect. This grand Victorian... More

James and Richard have transformed a large 19th home into a comfortable modern house, but have retained the charming features of the old building. The furniture is also in the style of the old building itself. For instance, our room was large with a lovely chaise longue. But contemporary features, such as underfloor heating in the bathroom speaks of modern... More

When you stay at somewhere like Te Puna Wai lodge, you are reminded of the charm that is lacking in the pod-like 5 star hotels. Nelson is very beautiful and to have a place which captures and frames the view and captures the changing light made us feel very fortunate. It is a real home and you feel like you... More

We stayed at Te Puna Wai on recommendation from someone we had only just met! Glad we did. We hadn't booked but the guys were only too happy to make up the room for us. We felt very welcome. The haul ashore apartment was nicely furnished and had everything we needed. Enjoyed the conversation with Richard and James. Definitely coming... More

We were thrilled by our stay at this wonderful lodge. Our hosts, James and Richard, were fantastic conversationalists and made us feel like long-lost friends immediately. The lodge has an amazing view over the water, where we were treated to two fabulous sunsets. Breakfast was nothing less than gourmet. Wish we lived closer so we could enjoy this experience more...
