The house: a nice, cozy, hardwood floor home. A great balcony and a great garden for sitting with a drink at the end of the day (both overlook the Tasman Bay facing west). The room: very well-kept, comfortable bed, nice modern bathroom. Well-stocked with refreshments (tea, coffee, beer, etc.,). The breakfast: fresh fruit every day. Great local breads. Great eggs,... We stayed here for two nights and it would be a wonderful place to base youself for a longer stay. Our room was on the lower floor it was large well furnished, it also had a separate large well equipped kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer plus washing machine and dryer. Finally it had a lovely spacious private terrace where... More

Such a gem of a place. Like a good wine, it's balanced, full bodied, and lively. My husband and I booked this for the last nights of our honeymoon and couldn't have had a lovelier time! The breakfast is beyond all normal presentation (the table is so well set there ought to be a picture painted of it, which would... More

We stayed in Te Puna Wai lodge for 6 nights in January. Richard and James are the epitome of charm. They are knowledgable, interesting and such wonderful hosts. The apartment is beautiful with a full kitchen and everything you could possibly need. Breakfast was delicious especially the scramblette. Richard bought in scented roses from his beautiful garden every morning which... More

We stayed five nights. The B&B is in a lovely setting overlooking the bay. The location was ideal for restaurants; driving to and hiking in Abel Tasman; day trips to Queen Charlotte Drive, Picton and the lake area; and touring all the artists' studios in the area. Richard and James were welcoming and very helpful hosts -- always ready to... More

When my mom came to visit me in New Zealand we took a tour around the South Island and I didn't want to miss Nelson. I did careful research and decided to book us in to stay at Te Puna Wai. Take my advice after looking at the options-we couldn't have been happier. The house is absolutely gorgeous, the gardens... More

Loved everything about this location and hosts. James and Richard were so helpful in planning activities and getting us where we needed to be. Loved the gourmet breakfast. We felt so well cared for here and the views were just outstanding. Miss it already. Highly recommend when in Nelson.

We stayed 3 nights in this truly terrific B&B. James and Richard were very welcoming, making us feel at home, even hanging out our home country flag! The place feels very warm, with a nice living room and terrace to enjoy the stunning with views of the Tasman Bay. We had the top-floor room. It was a cosy romantic bedroom... More

Our hosts, Richard and James, provided us with helpful tips for our sightseeing adventures. The views of Tasman Bay were lovely and our room with kitchen was charming. Breakfasts were elegant. We felt that we received personal attention and appreciated the display of our USA flag. We highly recommend Te Puna Wei.

We stayed at Te Puna Wai for three nights as part of our honeymoon and had a terrific experience. The B&B is really cool, funky, and located in a great place in Nelson, about a mile from the downtown area. James and Richard were caring and helpful hosts through our stay. Highly recommended
