I've been to Nelson a few times before and I can't believe I never knew about this place! It's in a really amazing beautiful old house, really close to the bus stop and the centre of town. In some ways it's more like a fancy mansion than a hostel, but it still manages to be super laid back and quirky.... More

I found my visit beyond enjoyable! Great food, wonderful company, and best of all fluffy, pliable, easy-to-use toilet paper. It is rough peeing here in New Zealand for everyone provides you with pastry pick-up wax paper. I did not even know that NZ sold such wonderful toilet paper until I visited this backpackers. They also have a beautiful mosaic tile... More

Most friendliest, prettiest and well organised backpackers I've ever been to. No bunk beds, the house is stunning and it's set up for cosy fun. Not too expensive, close to everything. Beat my expectations multiple times.

I had a private room which when a friend came and had the other bed in it we were given dorm rate. Well equipped kitchen , free breakfast , cereal , toast jam and if the hens are laying a freshly laid free range egg. Good hot water , clean bathrooms , friendly atmosphere , friendly staff, free use of... More

great place with lots of awesome people there was a really good community feel to it where everyone helped each other out. There was a good price with lots of extras I didn't expect. Such as the free breakfast which was nice.

I have stayed in many backpackers around NZ and this was, by far, the worst. It is true that it is well located but it's on a hill, which is not very convenient if you are travelling with a big suitcase or a backpack. When I finally got to the reception completely exhausted, the receptionist told me that they had... More

It's a big house that overlooks the town center. There are only real beds in the female dorm, no bunks here! I had some of the best nights sleep here. The room is big and has power sockets and hooks. The bathrooms are descent but could use a bit more cleaning. The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful ...no... More

This hostel should perhaps be used as the blueprint for other hostels around the world. The property, which is a character home and a hill, features three buildings, lots of patios, and a seemingly infinite number of rooms. It feels like massive but also small at the same time. Staff are awesome, very friendly and willing to help. I would... More

The staff is especially friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and still reasonably priced. Lovely location on top of a hill; a colourful and happy place - rain or shine. Don't miss a night at the spring and fern with the whisky priest!

This is the best hostel I have ever been to, for many reasons. The place itself is incredible, it really is a palace in its own way. It feels private because it is on its own little hill, surrounded by gardens, but it is actually just a few blocks away from one of the best areas of town. The staff was... More
