We spent most of our holiday on a budget, usually in motels - it's what Yorkshire folk tend to do. This February, we were racing back to Auckland on the last leg of our journey and knew we wanted to spend two days in Nelson. Being disorganised or is it spontaneous? We spent over an hour searching, two hours before... More

It's the best stay during our 2 weeks New Zealand vacation! There are beautiful garden, lovely alpacas, amazing pony, etc...While you go around the whole farm , you can feel the real life...I special like the furnishing of the room which bought by different countries, also you can find nice CD on the table... I really enjoy it. Robert &... More

We agree with the other reviews, in that Robert and Victor are the perfect hosts. They gave us a tour of their property which is large and peaceful and we sampled the wines that they make on the premises. We only stayed one night (unfortunately) but had a great lively dinner with them full of great conversation. If you are... More

We stayed 3 nights at Retiro Park Lodge, it is the best stay in our 2 weeks trip. Every thing is beyond our exception. Beautiful garden, lovely animals - alpacas, pony, ducks, chickens... Robert and Victor are great hosts, they do care guest's needs-provide thoughtful tour tips, delicious breakfast... I felt like stay in old friends house. The location is... More

Robbert and Victor were absolutely amazing. We showed up and were greeted with tea on their back patio. They invited us in for wine from their own vineyard (super good) after a dinner out at one of their recommendations in Nelson. The breakfast was tailored to our own dietary restrictions and delicious both mornings. When we told them what the... More

Our one-night stay here was unfortunately all too brief, yet we will always remember the beauty, charm and gracious welcome we received at Retiro Park Lodge. This was our first trip to New Zealand, and we had no idea we would end up spending the evening with our hosts walking this rural farm, sipping wonderful wine, and enjoying the company... More

Our first trip to New Zealand include a three night stay at the lodge that was truly a wonderful experience. Our first evening was kicked off with a evening tour of the beautiful property including lessons from Victor on winemaking and full introductions to all the animals (alpacas, chickens, mini horses, etc) by Robert. It ended with their incredible hospitality... More

Whilst visiting family in the Nelson area of NZ, we stayed for a few nights at Retiro Park Lodge, where the friendly welcome and attention to detail of our Hosts - Robbert & Victor - exceeded all expectations. This welcome, together with the Lodge itself a magical haven in the depths of the countryside, made our visit truly memorable and... More

My mom and I stayed here during our 12 days on the South Island. Being city girls, we weren't sure what to expect, but what we got exceeded any notions we may have had going in. We stayed 3 nights and after one taste of Victor's breakfast, begged him to fix us dinner for the next two nights in addition... More

As we pulled into the lovely grounds and Flavia, the 4-legged welcoming committee, came to greet us, we knew we had found "home" for the next 3 nights. We felt like invited guests at a perfect country retreat. Our hosts were gracious, welcoming, charming, interesting and engaging. The rooms were warm, comfortable and sophisticated, representing lives well-lived. All our meals... More

Retiro Park Lodge offers friendly, personalyzed, memorable accommodation in an oasis of quiet country luxury: Surrounded by an extensive garden, in a 90-acre park-like property, nestled amongst hills and sitting along the river in beautiful Teal Valley, but minutes away from Nelson City’s bustle.
