I stayed in this hostel for a weekend whilst visiting Nelson. It has great amenities and is within walking distance to the centre of town. However, they do offer free usage of push bikes which is fantastic. The hostel itself is clean and has a fully stocked kitchen including two ovens, micorwave, pots pans etc. There is free wifi which... More

The rooms and bathrooms were tidy and clean, staff was helpful and nice, and the woman who checked us in even moved her car so we could have a spot right in the lot by the building we were staying in! We stayed in the room with it's own bathroom for a little more privacy but every room and bathroom... More

We arrived in Nelson with 1 week left in our 4 week trip on the south island. Having spent a fair amount in accommodation already - we were looking for a reasonable place to stay and found Bug backpackers. Quite frankly: the place is massively underrated! The rooms are clean, spacious and nicely appointed. The shared facilities are well maintained... More

The place was quite central and opposite a park. Very clean and kitchen was well equipped. We were in the cottage next door to the central house. Owner served freshly baked bread at breakfast and was very helpful. Only problem we encountered was the cold show in the cottage - not a problem though as I used one of the... More

The kitchen is small though but it is just like 5 stars'. It does have completed set of baking, pan and so on tools! It is clean always! My fav on the hostel! Though the living room, dining area are small but it is cosy! The rooms and toilers are clean! For sure you wanted to stay it in future... More

Stayed here over Christmas 2013. This was the first place we stayed in New Zealand after travelling from UK. We had a double room for the first night to recover, then we stayed in a mixed dorm. Everyone was very friendly and there was a BBQ on Christmas Day, which was such a good way to spend the evening after... More

This hostel was great. Nice big double room, clean facilities and great recommendations for what was going on in the area. A bit of a walk into town but we managed it just fine. The owners were lovely and recommended a great pub in town that did nice grub and craft beers.

Possibly the cleanest hostel I have ever stayed in! The rooms all have a personal touch, and all facilities are great. Lovely hosts, very friendly and take very good care of this property. Nice atmosphere and this is reflected in the good mood around the hostel amongst the other guests. Freshly baked bread and coffee so great to wake up... More

Stayed in a double room, comfortable, roomy, cute little chocolates on the pillows! Noisey fellow guest at 3am, but you can get that anywhere. Good email contact pre-stay, but didn't actually meet anyone during our one night stay- sent a text through to number on website to let them know of our later arrival but never got a response, did... I chose this backpackers because of the high traveller ratings. I wasn't disappointed. Richard our host is genuinely interested in his guests and the hostel reflects this with the freshly baked bread and brewed coffee in the mornings to the cutely decorated bmw beetle inspired door signs for each room. We stayed in the twin taxi bug room for two... More
