A lovely B and B, beautifully kept and extremely well located for walking into town ( 5 mins) or walking along the river to some beautiful walks around Nelson. Very pretty cottage garden with hanging baskets creates a lovely relaxed and peaceful ambience for the house. Rooms are not big but have everything, including access through French doors to a... What a fabulous stay we had at Sussex House. David & Vicky were gracious hosts. Enjoyed chatting with David, whose knowledge and humour was charming. The strauss room was cute, clean and comfortable. The Little bottle of sherry to welcome the weary was delightful. Yes a beautiful B&B in lovely english like, surroundings with the river right next to the... More

What a great place to stay!!! Located close to town in a very green area, just in front of the mountainrange, this lovely place offers a lot for a fair price. It looks beautiful from the outside, and when you enter you feel put back to the 19th century. It´s an old but very well maintained house, with big red... More

We stayed here for Christmas in 2008 and it's taken me this long to write a review. Apologies Vicki and David! We have been thinking about Nelson a quite a bit lately and would love to go back. The house is beautiful and very nicely furnished and the hosts are extemely friendly. We had two rooms as we could not... More

Lovely, clean b and b in quiet area yet within walking distance of Nelson. Tasty continental breakfast provided by pleasant and helpful owners. Lots of places to eat in Nelson. Walked up nearby Botanic Hill which is supposedly the 'centre of New Zealand' with fantastic views of Nelson and surrounding area. More

The Sussex House is a beautiful old B & B. It's within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, botanical gardens and various walking paths around town. We were there for less than 24 hours, but the breakfast was nice and there was coffee and tea service upstairs. We could here people in the next room a bit. A lovely old house. More

Sussex House is located on the banks of the river, by a bridge and within easy walk to the town centre. It's in a quiet area, and Queen's Park nearby is pretty park. We had an en-suite room with access to the verandah, so it was lovely to sit in the sun enjoying a drink, and looking out over the... More

Beautiful old house near botanical gardens, CBD and hilltop climb. Easy walk to restaurants and town. Nice continental breakfast - no hot food but great baked goods and even had gluten free bread for me. Lovely homemade yougurt (a staple in NZ I think!). Could hear a bit from room next to ours, esp. in bathroom - a tad unsettling... More
