It was our first time in New Zealand. We had a fantastic time. We stayed for 3 nights at Oakwood Manor and we were made to feel very welcome. Jessie at reception was fantastic! Absolutely deplorable motel, grubby. The smell from the empty restuarant area was something I haven't struck for 40 years. The bedcovers in our room were "slick" with grime . Never again ! more

I would never stay in this motel again. In fact, I was scared to sleep in the bed. It was also cold and I couldn't find a thermostat to turn on any heat. Luckily, I was only there for a few hours. The only thing positive I can say is it is close to the airport. more

I only give this 2 stars because the receptionists were very kind and helpful and helped me book a taxi to get out of this place. The room itself was horrible and not worth the rate I paid. We recently travelled the North island using the Golden Chain Motel voucher system (that is the subject of another review) and selected the Oakwood Manor because of it's close proximity to the Airport. In hindsight, that is its only redeeming feature. It has tiny rooms with only a one serve tea/coffee making facility available, no fresh milk offered and UHT... more

Room was very musty and very outdated. Bed was very soft and uncomfortable.Couldn't have dinner as there was a bus and no room for anyone else.Just as well we had a car because there are no cafes in walking distance. Shuttle to airport well organised more

small rooms with the worst mattress i have ever slept on.lots of stairs make it difficult for moving suitcases.would not go back or recommend this hotel more
