Cute little house-style hostel. Had a private double with shared washroom. Arrived after hours with no problem (after making arrangements with a helpful employee via e-mail). We stayed in a double room here for a few nights and were really impressed. The rooms - dorms and doubles - are in self-contained apartments so you don't share with a ton of people. Great place, really homely. One kitchen and bathroom between 2/3 rooms and very comfy beds. The owners, particularly the man, were very friendly. It's like a home away from home. more

This was a great hostel at a good price. We stayed here for two nights on our trip to Fraser island and couldn't have picked a better place in Hervey bay. We don't normally stay in "hostel" style accommodation - usually a caravan park or similar but to stay at "The Friendly" was the best decision we have ever made. I stayed here for 2 nights in march 2007. I had a private room which was well worth the money. The hostel was lovely, very clean, fab kitchen and the staff were extremely nice and helpful. I would def recommend this place as somewhere to stay in Hervey Bay and I would def stay here again it was fab. more

This place is more like a home than a hostel. Choices of room styles, the maximum with three beds in it - no bunks at all! And the owners live up to their hostel's name.
