I have to agree with the previous post -- cleanliness was far beyond my expectations, but the owner was very "odd" to us as well. He was incredibly negative (and aggressive!) about our trip plans -- and without the bus station pick-up that the previous reviewers received (he forgot to pick us up and acted like we had never made a pick-up plan when we called him, then left us to get a ride with another hostel shuttle). During our short stay, we heard him insulting two other couples about their tour and trip plans as well. I am a positive traveler, and an avid eco-lover, but I just can't give this hostel a good review -- the 10 minute "conversation" that we had with the owner was, like the previous reviewer, the most negative experience we had during our 2 months in Australia. Luckily we were able to laugh it off!

My advice would be to avoid this place if you are only stopping for the night on the long Brisbane-Airlie Beach journey or if you have already... more
