Management were friendly and knowledgeable. The room was clean and modern. We had an upstairs room with a magnificent view and a spa bath. Great cooking facilities available in the room but I would have been good to have some essentials like cooking oil or butter and jam in the fridge. Overall fantastic place to stay.

Our room was spotless with a large bathroom and small seating area outside. The pool looked lovely although suffering from cold I didn't try it out. Parked right outside the door. The kitchen was well equipt with all we could need. Great to have wifi. Only negative was that blind on the kitchen window didn't block out any light just... More

We stayed at this Motor lodge for two nights and could'nt fault the unit we stayed in or the service we received. Nevin and Sue are great hosts and deserve credit for the way they operate their business.....top marks to you both and we will certainly being recommending your property as the place to stay in Kaikoura!

We stayed 3 nights in an executive 1 bedroom apartment. The apartment had everything we could need. It was very spacious, although we were surprised to have the king size bed in the lounge and 2 singles in the bedroom as there were only my husband and I. We had a large spa bath in the bathroom which we didn't... More

We travel to Kaikoura regularly and beyond in the south island but always stay at the Kaikoura Gateway Motor Lodge as its such a great location and the owners are so welcoming and helpful. We always choose a room on the upper level as the views are great. The rooms are always very very clean and "spic n span" We... More

Well we stayed at Kaikoura Gateway Motor Lodge again and we just love the place. The manager and his wife are both so friendly and obliging with all the information on the things to see and do in Kaikoura. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean and great showers. We stayed for 3 days and we both highly recommend Kaikoura... More

Very accommodating hosts, handy location and clean modern rooms. Lovely big park across the road for children or a morning walk. We had stunning views of the ocean and busy township from our room. Cannot fault the facilities. Our family had a wonderful summer vacation, we will be back for sure! Best place we have stayed in NZ.

After staying at various motels in South Island, New Zealand, when we were holidaying there with our family and friends last December, we were pleasantly surprised to find Kaikoura Gateway a rather new and very well-maintained motel. Unlike the other motels that were rather aged and the shower area very cramped and cold due to the metal flooring, this boutique... More

After booking and paying in full for this hotel I received a phone call to advise the 2 bedroom apartment which I had booked was actually not available. They were able to give me a one bedroom instead. While this was not really suitable I agreed to take this room as we really needed somewhere to stay. Mistakes do happen... More

Very large rooms, very clean and well-presented. Good soundproofing, couldn't hear the neighbors at all! Well situated to everything in town, close to the centre and right off the major street. Warm welcome when we checked in. Free unlimited wifi with one password that connects all your devices. Nice spa bath, water heats quickly and good shower pressure. Sadly no... More
