Found our room was clean and bright. The units are in a back section, so they are nice and quiet. Only point to note is the drive is a bit tight, but Deb the host ensures us that all vehicles have made it in and out ok. Deb and Ted are great hosts and Deb is happy to explain everything... More

The hosts Deb and Ted made me feel so welcome at their motel. Deb informed me of all the local attractions and places to eat with what specialties were on offer. My stay at Sails Motel was so enjoyable and I was made to feel so welcome that I didn't want to leave. Thank you Deb and Ted for all... More

We were running out of time to find a place to stay before it got too dark and too late and I rang Deb at Sails she was wonderful. We were shown to our room and given a demo on how to get the tele working, which can sometimes be the most frustrating thing out. She turned down the bed... More

Nice apartment, very clean but the landlady was over zealous, was around every corner, wanting to know where we were going, what we had to eat, turning on the light in our room while we were out. We were going to stay 2 nights but decided against it. Nice lady but too much for us. Kaikoura one of the nicest... More

We only booked in for 2 nights, we wished it could've been longer. Our room was very comfortable, tidy & clean. The facilities were excellent. The location was ideal. Deb & Ted were brilliant hosts, they couldn't do enough for you. All Deb's recommendations were spot on. If we're ever in the Kaikoura area again we will definitely try &... More

Secluded location, quiet and attractive. Spacious unit (esp. bathroom) and al fresco dining on our own deck. Turndown service was an unexpected delight. Cannot fault the friendliness of our hostess. Spotlessly clean. Wish we had stayed longer. Our quiet pre-teen and teen sons were very comfortable here too and made to feel very welcome. Thank you.

We booked a studio room (a larger one was not available for our time in Kaikoura). Booking by email was quick and efficient. Location ======= On the Esplande is walking distance (5 to 10 min) to town. You don't have a seaview as the motel is down a driveway away from the water. But the garden setting is rather nice,... Well, how should I say. This place is not one of those modern top notch motel. But the service and hospitality by the owner, Deb, was top notch. She was so so helpful right from the time you step into the place. She explained to me all the places that I could visit since I only have basically an afternoon... More

Conveniently located for all the Kaikoura activities. There is a lot of competition in the area, and this property is tucked away and does not have sea views. The owners are really helpful, and Debs can fix up any activity that you want.

Lovely private motel units in good location with friendly informative hosts. Lovely comfortable bed. Only thing lacking was a hairdryer and thought it was a bit odd having a clear glass window in the bathroom. Would stay again and recommend to others.
