We stayed for one night in a room in the annex, so we may have been unlucky. I am surprised, given our experience, to read reviews saying what a quiet, peaceful place this is. The hotel is situated only yards from SH1. All night long we could hear lorries roaring past. The owner is obviously aware of this, because without... More

About 5 km beyond Kaikoura with 6 perfectly designed and elegant rooms. The on-sight upscale restaurant ( unquestionably best in Kaikoura) offered wonderful dishes (Blue Cod was perfect)and a small wine offering. Owners have been at Fyffe for 18 years and have developed perfection

Chris and Collin are most gracious hosts. The grounds and lodge are beautiful. Our room was quiet and very well appointed. Ask Chris about hooting a wedding for one of the All Black players. She is rightly proud of it. There is much to do in Kaikoura with the whale watch topping our list. I Liked that the lodge is... More

This hotel is set in a beautiful garden with views over the mountains. Our hostess Chris was a lovely person and did everything to make us welcome, including inviting us for drinks before we went out for dinner (the restaurant was closed as we were the only guests in off peak season). The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean and a... Great place to stay and only a short trip from Blenheim. Great room and very clean. We enjoyed walking and sitting in the garden area. Hosts are friendly and very welcoming, good down to earth people who want their guests to have a great stay. Food was fantastic, best blue cod meal I have ever had, great flavours. We have... More

We stayed here for a short romatic weekend away. We were met in reception by the owners, who were friendly and warm and could not have done more to make our stay with them as pleasant as possible. Our room was stunning, absolutely huge, high quality furnishings and immaculately clean. We stayed for dinner in the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed... More

Fyffe Country Lodge would be one of the best places to stay in Canterbury. The rooms are wonderfully decorated and very upmarket. It is 6 star quality! The outdoor surroundings are beautifully kept by Colin (host) and are so picturesque with specatular views of the mountains. The hosts are very friendly and served us the absolute best Seafood Chowder we... More

When making our bookings for our N.Z. trip from the U.K. we relied to a great extent on Tripadvisor reviews. I'm wondering whether we did stay at the same place! This place was the only disappointment of the whole trip. We appreciate that this was the winter 'off' season but everywhere else had kept up the expected high standards. On... More

Thank you Chris and Carmen for your interesting review. Firstly I would like to address the issue of you carrying a small jug of fresh milk 10 mitres to your room,…. … I actually thought I was going to be carrying some luggage and this was the reason you had the milk…my apologies. Heating: Your room was warm on arrival... More

Best place we stayed during our trip to New Zeeland, beautiful small lodge outside city of Kaikoura, where you woke up in the early morning for rooster's singing. Thanks to Chris and Colin we had all our meals there, everything was excellent from breakfast to dinner. Stay in Kaikoura was culminated in seeing two huge sperm whales during our whale... More
