My experience could not have been better. I turned up late with no booking after the kitchen had closed, but hosts Colin and Chris fed me and put me in one of the nicest rooms I've seen (and I travel a lot). The lodge and it's surroundings are beautiful, and the hosts couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful.

Very attractive buildings, bedroom, lounge, dining room and a wonderful garden with stunning views. Colin and Chris are extremely friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. Great place to stay for Kaikoura

Loved our six night stay! Spacious, clean room. Unlimited WiFi with great connection. Delicious, full English breakfast made to order each morning. Very warm and welcoming hosts. Ate at the restaurant on New Years eve and food was exceptional! Definitely worth dining in. Is close to SH1 as mentioned in other reviews, but this was non-issue. Slept soundly. Still enjoyed... My husband and I stayed on Christmas Eve, the welcome was warm and friendly. The room large, well decorated, clean and comfy. Breakfast was freshly cooked and the farewell as courteous as the welcome. Grounds and gardens lovely with a great location, I would definitely recommend :)

We stayed one night in Room 7 on our drive across the South Island. The mountain views made a spectacular backdrop to the rose gardens. Our room was on the end and very spacious. The bathroom was large and the bed soft. There were thick drapes to block out any morning light if you want to sleep in a bit.... More

We drove from Punakaiki to Kaikoura on 4/11 in our rental car. We reached here at 4 pm after numerous stops on our way. We were warmly welcomed by Chris and Colin. This elderly couple made us feel at home. Being vegetarians is a hazard in any foreign country. However, we were extremely pleased with our break fast in which... More

We started our New Zealand adventure at Fyffe Country Lodge. Chris and Colin made us feel so welcome and put themselves out to help us. They have set a high standard for the remainder of our trip around South Island. Kaikoura is an interesting and diverse town. Great walking, stunning views and we had a fascinating whale watch - highly... More

We stayed for one night in a room in the annex, so we may have been unlucky. I am surprised, given our experience, to read reviews saying what a quiet, peaceful place this is. The hotel is situated only yards from SH1. All night long we could hear lorries roaring past. The owner is obviously aware of this, because without... More

About 5 km beyond Kaikoura with 6 perfectly designed and elegant rooms. The on-sight upscale restaurant ( unquestionably best in Kaikoura) offered wonderful dishes (Blue Cod was perfect)and a small wine offering. Owners have been at Fyffe for 18 years and have developed perfection

Chris and Collin are most gracious hosts. The grounds and lodge are beautiful. Our room was quiet and very well appointed. Ask Chris about hooting a wedding for one of the All Black players. She is rightly proud of it. There is much to do in Kaikoura with the whale watch topping our list. I Liked that the lodge is... More
