We only stayed a single night on our way down the coast. Hosts were friendly and helpful. A great view over the North Bay and easy walking to either the Pier or the business centre ends of town. Rooms were a bit more expensive than the average but had all the necessary amenities and would be a good place to... More

The view of the ocean from the room was beautiful. The accommodation was very clean and the room was well appointed and very light due to the large windows. It was a pleasant ten / fifteen minute walk back into the town where there were a range of restaurants and shops.

Extremely friendly hosts, spacious and well equipped accommodation and the most beautiful view of the ocean and mountains to wake up to. The Anchor definitely benefits from being a wee bit up the road out of the main town area for a bit of peace and solitude. Also very reasonably priced, absolutely not a single reason to stay anywhere else... More

Our room was enormous, very comfortable and very well-equipped. We loved the view of the ocean across the road from the motel. We initially found it strange to watch people walking so close to our bedroom along the road (the glass is floor to ceiling) but then discovered that you can’t see in from outside. The motel is a long... More

We are North Islanders who frequently tour the South Island. We booked room 8 which is a large waterfront studio with high ceilings and uninterrupted views out to sea and across to the mountains and although there is a small road between the motel and the sea there is not much traffic and it is very quiet at night. There... More

Stayed here with my husband and son for one night on the beach, and the motel was perfect. The walk into town was a little farther than I expected, but it was good for us to get a little exercise, and we discovered a great playground on the way (and there is also a playground right across the street from... Great hotel... large rooms, very clean and great access to anything you might want to do in the area. The walk to the main downtown was a bit long, but we loved the scenery and stopping at the shops, so it was worth it. Several good restaurants on the nearby pier - reservations definitely recommended. The owners of the inn... More

We stayed in a studio room. As for all their rooms, it had a great sea view, and was quiet at night as the double glazing cuts out any sound from passing traffic. Not that there is much traffic, as the motel is away from the shopping and restaurant area. The room was comfortable, very clean and had everthing we... More

We stayed for 1 night in a luxury room with ocean view and terrace ( room5) . The welcome was personal and we were shown over to our unit. The room was large, clean and had a well equipped kitchen. We didn't realise until much later that evening that the fridge was not already on and we had milk etc... More

Beautifully situated, across the road from the sea. We had a sea facing room and on arrival, opened the french doors and wandered across the road to the lady who makes and sells her icecreams which were fantastic. The lady in reception was very helpful and as soon as she knew we were swimming with dolphins the next day arranged... More
