Stayed 2 nights in twin ensuite which good size & situated upstairs in more private area with kitchen & lounge facilities. Freezing cold on arrival but soon warmed up & we were early arrivals. Good location, just 5 mins walk from main town & supermarket. Good size pool for summer guests & all year round hot tub / sauna which... More

We stayed at the Dusky Lodge this weekend, it was wonderful. It was cold outside, but nice and cosy inside with the fireplaces everywhere. We chilled in the hot tub for ages, and the view from the back deck is so nice. The rooms were very good, nice beds and great facilities for what you pay!

I stayed about 2 months in Dusky, feels just like home with the big living room. Friendly and nice Manager! Perfect hostel with big kitchen, pool & hot tub. Definitely go back again when I visit Kaikoura!

I stayed here a month ago and found it to be a well-maintained hostel with friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again if I was in Kaikoura. The kitchens are well-stocked and the pool was a nice bonus.

I stayed at dusky a few times over my year in nz and loved it every time. The staff are all amazing and the rooms are always clean and have plenty if room. The pool and hot tub were a huge bonus which we took advantage of. Highly recommend it and be sure and say hi to damo.

Perfect hostel in a perfect little town with nice staff. Had a good time down there. This place leaves nothing to be desired. Clean rooms, close to centrum and to the beach. The staff knows heaps of secret spots. Don't miss that. Thumps up and 5 stars. Greets Kerstin from Moa :)

I stayed in a 4-bed-dorm there and besides the size of the room(there was lots of space) it was quite poor! Everything was just sadly run-down and kinda dirty and especially the bathrooms are not nice it all! I tried to take a shower-there was no hot, but at least a tiny little stream of warm water there and still... More

The lodge is a bit out of town, but not too bad of a walk. The scenery here is amazing, couldn't stop looking at the mountains! The staff here are all very nice and welcoming, we had a nice private room. The 3 days we stayed here the kitchen was always clean. Would love to stay here again in the... More

Once you experience a sleepless night, painful welts, and the need to sanitize all your luggage, you learn to avoid bed bugs! A look back at past reviews shows I'm not the first to have met this fate at the Dusky Lodge. I recognize bed bugs can multiply anywhere, but I can't recommend this lodge to anyone until management does... More

After finding Kaikoura fully booked we reluctantly booked into Dusky Lodge. Having spent a few years travelling I thought I had seen it all, but this dump takes the rosette for 'end of the season who gives one' award. We opted for the double room with ensuite, sounds nice ay? Well you'd be sadly disappointed. It seems some not so... More

Hello, We are sorry to hear that you did not have a pleasant stay at Dusky Lodge. It is unfortunately true that in 4 of our standard double ensuite bedrooms downstairs, the fan goes on for all the rooms at the same time. To avoid this being a hassle at night, we put signs encouraging people to turn off the... More
