If you are a light sleeper like I am it was very difficult as we were right beside the train tracks and there were three trains overnight better to choose something away from the trains. Motel itself was fine and comfortable well appointed.

We checked in to the Alpine View Motel late in the evening and got a very pleasant reception. The room was very well equipped and the bed extremely comfortable. Hosts very welcoming and got lots of good tips when we were checking out i.e. places to see and what not to miss. Would definitely recommend.

We spent one night here in December. The room was spacious, but somewhat dirty and the door was nearly broken. We were surprised that the lock even held, as it looked as it had seen the better days of its life already. Our unit was next to the railway, which was operational day and night. So it was little shaky... More

Very clean and spacious studio (for 2). Everything we needed for a 4 night stay. Hosts very friendly and welcoming without being obtrusive. Would have liked an iron and ironing board in the room (was one in the laundry - the iron had definitely seen better days! - but one in the room would have been nicer).

We were traveling around the south island and stopped here while on the east coast. Clean and tidy with good facilities. Close to the beach. Staff were very accommodating to help us retrieve some items left behind. We would definitely stay again.

Lovey people , the room was immaculate the facilities excellent, cannot fault it except the wifi is not good you get a ticket to give you a certain time on the net but it is not good enought, and really these days should be unlimited it is outside the village centre , but you can walk along by the beach,... Lovely friendly welcome when we checked in. The rooms were spotless, but the beds were rather soft...not good for a bad back. We loved that they had their own private access to the beach, though it could be improved to make easier crossing over the railway line.

Kaikoura is a small resort town, backed by impressive mountains. The motel is on the main road, just out of the town. The one downside of it was that the railway line is next to the property and three or four trains went past during my one night stay, one being in what felt like the middle of the night... More

I am not one to leave negative reviews, but this motel was a huge disappointment. It is a pre fabricated building which is very dated. Yes they have views and are one the beach, but so is everywhere else in kiakoura! It is also on the north side of town, away from the centre. Given the price we paid, 185NZD... More

In January this year my wife and I with our 3 children spent a night at this lovely motel in Kaikoura. Having booked 4 months earlier directly with the owners Jenny and Ken, they were so welcoming, friendly and very helpful upon our arrival. It is very good value, very close to the centre of town and the magnificent seal... More
