Spent Saturday night camping there in our tent. $36 for two people which was ok. The pitches were good and clean. The site facilities, toilets and showers were superb. We really enjoyed staying there and felt safe. We would camp there again. Thank you.

Well i'll start with the location being right on the beach! Which is lovely. You can light little fires along the beach at night (buy marshmellows from the shop next to the reception) toast marshmellows and finish up your day on the beach! Very cool experience. Also our kid's loved it, this was the saving grace at Peketa and the... More

We were travelling in a campervan. The area was clean and we were right by the beach. Very relaxing. It is located 5 minutes from Kaikoura with easy access to the dolphin encounter and the whale watching. We decided to stay there because the reviews for the other campsites said they were located very close to the railroad tracks. This... More

Spent a night here. The Good: - Nice location next to the beach. - Quite spacious if you move out of the center spot. - Good toilet/ shower facility. The Not so good: - Not too well-maintained. - Noise from the highway nearby is quite audible at night. - Only couple showers/ toilets, with a funny shower system that switches... More

The location of this site is probably the best we had on our whole trip in New Zealand - it is literally right next to the beach so the children could run around whilst you could see them from the van. lots of space around the grassy area too. We didn't use the kitchen here but it looked clean and... More

A little shabby but very comfortable. Big and sprawling but hedges and trees divide the camp into more private sections. A small on-site shop with excellent berry ice cream! A limited number of showers (only 2 in the men's of Block 2) so pick your times to avoid waiting. Sunset behind the hills and moon-rise over the black sand beach... More

My sister and our kids stayed here. Great place for the kids . Nice cabin, with verandah, the place was spotlessly clean. We enjoyed our stay. I don't write reviews very often at all. But I thought this place deserved it. We definitely will be back to stay.

My partner and I wanted to go camping, without breaking the bank and without too many mod cons to have a true camping experience. We loved it here and will definitely come back. Our 15yr old also loved it. The showers were free and well maintained. Tent sites were plenty and right by the beach. The beach was great for... More

All in all we had a very good stay at this campground. Clean and spacious facilities, playground and (in our case) direct beach view. We came short notice as we went for a whale watching flight at the Kaikoura airfield with is just next door. We can certainly recommend this site!

Forget that prospect of an idyllic stay by the sea. The reality is that anybody feels free to wander through your site and we even had people come and sit at our table! Add to that aggressive locals who resent the very presence of anybody not from New Zealand and your stay can be miserable. There are plenty of better... More
