We stayed here at the last min as the b&b we booked in town double booked us. Motel was right on the main road as you come into Kaikoura so did have quite a lot of traffic noise at night and early morning. Room was clean and spacious... small kitchenette was well equipped. Free wifi was good.

Stayed here for 4 nights. Positives:- Room was a good size, good kitchen facilities and good free wifi. Friendly owners. Negatives:- A little noisy from road noise outside. A little way out of town, so no-where to walk to in evenings. Car parking outside our room was difficult at times - people parking in wrong place and taking up 2... More

We arrived in Kaikoira in a rain storm. The Mediterranean Motel was great because not only did they have free wifi, they provided free DVD check out at the front desk. They also had a microwave and plates/bowls so we could make some food in room while we ate dinner and watched movies since it rained the whole time we... More

Nice modern motel, comfortable bed and very clean. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful. All units are single storey and good car parking. The free wifi worked well. It is just off the main road and big trucks trundle past during the night. This was not a problem for us but it may be if you are a light... More

Quiet little single story motel tucked away at the northern end of this holiday resort. Operator very friendly and helpful. We arrived early in the afternoon after a shorter than normal drive. Walked down into the town and had a good look around. Standard sort of seaside resort with ice cream parlours bars and gift shops spread about. The area... More

This motel probably the best value for money, compared to all the motels we have stayed in N.Z. in the last month. Clean, spacious, bed good, modern, car parking. Closeness to city centre depends on where you come from.Anything within 5 kilometres is close for us.

I stayed at the Mediterranean last week and was really impressed by the cleanliness, pleasant surroundings and above all the friendliness of the owner Gus. He went out of his way to be helpful and that made our stay in Kaikoura a real pleasure. The motel is situated on the northern end of town so would suit car driving travellers... More

Pleasant host Gus keeps this small motel in top condition. Includes good high speed Internet in the reasonable price. Kitchen facilities and fresh clean bathrooms make this a good choice. Book with confidence. .

Stayed at this motel for one night on 9/3/15 to facilitate our whale watch excursion. Great motel. Excellent, comfortable room with full facilities and more importantly it was spotlessly clean. We asked the proprietor to book us a taxi in the morning to take us to our excursion and without hesitation he offered to drive us there in his own... More

Basic, clean accommodation. Located on a bend on the SH1, entry and exit by car can be tricky. Traffic noise is understandable but not ideal.Sounds from the neighbouring room prompted us to be careful with what might inadvertently be shared. It's a long walk to the town so if you are driving and want to drink it's not the best... More
