We found this place by accident and what a happy accident. We camped in our caravan and enjoyed using the kitchen and bbq for our dinner. Nice view of the hills and the deer on the hillside behind us. The following morning one sheep strolled through the campsite. Lots of hot water for showers in a sparkling facility. Would highly... Looking for a quiet place in a lovely countryside near Kaikoura, we've found this wonderful lodge and spontaneously decided to stay longer than planned. Joyce and Ross are very friendly and helpful hosts, they make it really easy to feel like home. The room was comfortable and spacious and the lounge is really cosy like a living room at home.... Although we only stayed there for 1 night, we had a very warm welcome from Joy and the lodge environment and view are splendid! We enjoyed socialising with their cows and sheep, and Joy's cat!! The room includes pretty much everything you need, free wifi, Sky TV, stereo, alarm clock, hairdryer, fridge, electric blanket, coffee and tea, spa bathtub, heater,... More

We had originally only booked one night but loved the place so much that we dicided to extend our stay. Joy is a wonderful host who made us feel welcome and home right away! We spent the evenings in front of the cozy fire place. Fresh eggs delivered right from the stabel were a nice treat for breakfast. The rooms... More

My Husband and I had a 1 night stay. As soon as we arrived and were given such a warm welcome by Joy (who really does go above and beyond to ensure you have the best stay) we wished that we had more time at Waikene Lodge. The fire was roaring and any stresses were left outside. I thoroughly recommend... More

We arrived to a welcoming, warming log fire and coffee on! No-one else was booked in the night we were there so had the lodge to ourselves, which was lovely and just what we needed! The room was very comfortable and in the morning, the fire was roaring again and breakfast around the log fire was a lovely start to... More
