This place is very run down. Dirty with dog hair on the carpet, old toilet / shower and in general just felt unclean and run down. Would not stay there again. There was a for sale sign at the front and it seemed like the owner had given up.

I found Richard [ the host ] to be charming with his honesty and pleasant mannerism. I appreciated how he warmly welcomed us and our dog, which by the way is a Rottweiler. This place is dog friendly which I believe a lot of people didn't know. I also appreciated how he left us alone for the whole two days... More

was good place is cheap .. kinda like entering the twilight zone. tis a roof over the head and is what it says to be. dont expect too much if ur rich and snooty. was pleased to see a pleasant older man and a younger chirpy woman cutting back hedges and painting the walls. very friendly. would recommend.

The room is old and needs some maintenance. No insect screens meant the room had many flies inside when we arrived. Outside light didn't work. Heating was only a small fan heater, which was inadequate for a night when snow fell on the outside hills! Also, the internet advertised wasn't working. However, the bed was clean and comfy and the... More

We booked online and purely on price. It was our last stop before heading to the ferry at Picton. It was like stepping back in time, as the room seemed untouched since the 60's, but it was what I expected, A hotel room in Kaikoura for the price I wanted to pay. It had everything an expensive hotel had just... More

Another long day on the road, meant that we would be arriving in Kaikoura late at night. We called ahead to inform the reception. Richard the owner was extremely pleasant, telling us not to worry about what time we arrived and was more concerned about us arriving safely. He said that he would turn the lights on in the unit... The motel is an older motel and a bit dated but it is tidy and clean and the manager is friendly and helpful and it is nearby to new world and some other shops as well as subway and only a few minutes by car to the centre. There is no noise from the road and there is undercover parking... More

Having stayed here many years ago, decided to stay again. This last stay will be memorabile for the comforts LACKING. The initial suprise, was to find no Dead bolts on the doors, let alone not being to shut some windows! The lighting was so poor, that to read, you were far better off outside. The refrigerator was not cleaned out... More

Ever had a friend who was alittle rough around the edges?..... this is the place in Kaikoura !, it's a motel that is in need of some TLC, it is currently 'For Sale', however does not excuse, the basic things that are being overlooked to be either repaired or have a scheduled maintenance programme in place, combine this with the...
