Great place to stay on the drive south and easy to find. Thanks Alison for making us so welcome. Accommodation was great as was Breakfast. Views are amazing. Sorry we didn't realise it was a farm stay with animals as our dog isn't used to animals being around. Hope Mrs Brown and family are all doing well.

A sublime setting! We stayed two nights and were sorry to leave. The room was large and clean, the hosts were delightful (Denise & Paul were house sitting for Alison at the time), the food was good and there were lots of friendly animals to talk to including horses, pig, goat, ducks and the alpacas, which my 21 month old... We'd booked months in advance and arrived at 5 pm after a long drive. We were greeted by a helper who wasn't sure if we had a room, didn't know us, and said I'd have to move my car for the bus that as coming. The host, Alison, was preparing an evening for a busload of returning American past visitors... More

Thank you for your review. I am so sorry you felt neglected on your visit here. I do remember that we had a large group coming that evening and I felt it polite to tell you about it. I also remember that I said you were welcome to join us as you might enjoy meeting the Road Scholar visitors, but... More

My wife and I stayed at Awatea for two nights in January while touring north & south islands, making the booking before we started our trip. It's a short drive into Kaikoura town but we knew we had made the right choice of accommodation. The stunning back drop of the mountain range, and beautiful gardens, makes it such a relaxing... We felt so welcome the moment we were greeted by Alison, a true Kiwi. Alison designed and built this beautiful B&B nestled a short distance from town between the mountains and the sea. The first evening Alison and her friends hosted 30 Roads Scholars as a fund raiser to build a new hospital in Kaikoura. On the property were horses... More

thank you to our great host Alison for making our stay at Awatea so enjoyable and special! We had a great room, incredibly spacious and clean. We traveled throughout the south island, and this was easily one of our favorite stays. Breakfast was delicious! We wished we could have stayed longer then one night. We definitely recommend this B&B to... More

Lovely home a little bit out of town, but close enough. 10 mins by car. Alison makes a great breakfast. We had rain so changed plans and spent the day working on wifi in the lounge, perfect. Lots of interesting animals to meet around the house.

Thank you so much for the lovely review. We do try to make everyone's stay a happy experience. I'm sure the chooks (not the crooks - we are a bit worried about you meeting any of them here!) enjoyed your company as well. We look forward to the pleasure of your company again sometime soon. More
