We stayed in the 2 room unit on the main road frontage GOOD things: Clean sheets/bedding upgraded to a bigger unit (I would hate to have seen the one we were supposed to get) large TV (though the sound was all out?) spacious clean towels (though they were old and shabby) you can take dogs (though they moaned about dogs??!!)... I have been staying at this motel last year, and this time (a few days ago) I had much better experience, the bedding seemed brand new and the motel rooms were very clean, even though the facilities are slightly outdated, but in general it was good value for money and i had a really good night sleep. I would recommend... More

We stayed in a cabin. We rejected the first one we were offered because the curtains didn't cover the window. The room felt grubby and smelt musty/ like some had been smoking in it a while back. The kitchen was disgusting— my husband refused to make a second cup of tea so that he didn't need to re-enter it. The... More

This place has everything going for it and needs a real tidy up. The guys who run this place clearly have no idea at all. We just pulled up and booked in - it was by far the cheapest place. We were in a camper, thank goodness, as we could finally make use of the 'self contained' status our van... More

We arrived and found other accommodation in the town fully booked. The rooms were basic as, expected for the money. They were also shabby. We had to request things like tea towels, coffee and data that weren't offered even though part of the package. There were dirty pans in the oven suggesting the room had not been checked after the... Hard to rate really since we were in a fully self contained bus so didn't have the need or the desire to use the facilities at all but the place was so run down looking and a real eyesore to look at from the powered sites below. It was just a place to stop and lay our heads for the... More

I stayed at the A1 a few weeks ago and just after I moved in I read the reviews. Although this is no Marriot, it still is not the horror movie that some people are describing. The place needs investment but trust me, I have stayed in worst hostels or hotels. The guy at front desk has been helpful and... More

We got back last night from a girls long weekend to Kaikoura, unfortunately we booked into this filthy, disgusting hovel. Do not even enter these premises. The curtains were hanging off the rails in both rooms, the ranch slider was impossible to open so we had to exit onto the balcony through the window. The Tv remote didn't work, no... More

This place was pretty cheap. Not cheap enough. You couldn't pay me to stay here again. Filth. Don't waste your time or money. Pay an extra $5 and go somewhere that cleans their toilets and empties their bins more than once a year. Or stay here, but bring a translation dictionary because they can't speak English, insect repellent for the... More
