The new building is exactly that, new, however because the reception is in a different building it seems isolated. The corridors have a student dorm feel to them. The views to the beach are amazing, and the reception staff very nice, although not too helpful because we called them to let them now our heater didn´t work, said they would... more

We only picked Hokitika as a place to break for the night, on our way from Nelson to Fox Glacier. It definitely turned out to be a lot better than we expected. There are 2 wings to this hotel, so make sure you only get a room in the new wing, facing the beach. The old wing is pretty out... more

I stayed at this hotel for one night. The room was clean and spacious (did not need enough room to hold a dance, so no problems there). I ate out at Stumpers Bar and Grill, no booking needed for one person on their own and had a quiet night after a long drive from Nelson. Fell asleep to the sound... more

Two years ago I stay in the old part. It was ok for the price but I didn't go back. For a bit more $ this town has a couple of particuarly nice places. However my favourite place was full so I tried the Beachfront wing. The new part. It''s great. You can sit on the balcony and watch the... more

We arrived in town and noticed the Beachfront Hotel as oddly uninviting from the street. With no reservations or idea what the hotel was like we walked in and were pleased with looks of the lobby and the friendliness of the staff. What we found was that the real value of this hotel was the rooms themselves and the open... more

After a few dreary nights at youth hostels we decided to treat ourselves to an Ocean View room at Beachfront Hotel. What a treat it was. Absolutely beautiful view - we sat on our balcony watching the sun go down and making our families listen to the Tasman Sea surf crashing (which made them very jealous!). Very glad we paid... more

After reading the reviews on this site, we decided to pay the extra for a room in the new block (beach front room) and are we glad did!! The room was fantastic and the view breathtaking! We ate our evening meal on our balcony watching the sunset over the Tasman Sea - would definately recomend this hotel and would stay... more

If you are staying here then ensure you do not book a room in the old part - they're classified as 'Driftwood Economy' and for a good reason. Our room was dated, shabby and really needed a good refit. The bathroom was no bigger than a cupboard, in fact I think it once was a cupboard. The town itself was... more

Ever since we knew that the new beachfront ooms were being built we wanted to stay there at least one night. We had stayed in the old hotel several times and realised how the ideally located the new hotel rooms would be. They have unobstructed views of the uniquely raw West Coast seascape and brillant sunset. The rooms are extremely... more

What a pleasant surprise to find a modern beachfront hotel after an 8 hour drive from Blenheim in the rain! Located right on the beach around 40 mins drive South from Greymouth it is definitely worth the extra time to get to. We were able to watch the sun set from the restaurant window (would have been out on the... more
