Drifting sands has a creative style. Clair has revamped and designed a gorgious hostel with all the comforts and stylish luxury rooms! Best beds in NZ by far :) This place has good vibes, cozy atmosphere and carefully placed contemporary style furnature/ornaments. Come summer time and enjoy the outdoor cinema or in the cooler season 'Oscar' the fire place will... More

It was raining and I wanted to drop in hokatiki after a long drive. Just for the night but I ended up staying a bit longer :-). the (wild!) beach was right there, Claire was lovely and had managed to get only lovely people to stay here. And the girl has style! The next day or rained again. And while... More

This busy backpacker hostel backs directly onto the long wind-swept beach and is only a 10-minute walk from the centre of town. Claire was very welcoming and helpful with regard to activities and restaurants in the area. The overall atmosphere was very friendly, although it did get a little crowded in the common areas and small kitchen, although we never... More

We stayed for one night and were very impressed by how warm, homely & cosy this place is. It has a large woodburner in a comfy lounge with WiFi. Guests can use the kitchen & dining room. Claire the owner makes lovely home made bread for guests every morning. The beach is just 3 minutes walk from their private walkway... More

One of the cosiest and best hostel I've been her in new zealand, particularly here on the westcoust. The rooms look so trendy and friendly with comfy, nice beds and it's all very clean and the lounge with the fire invited you to relax and feel homely. The fresh homemade bread in the morning even smells so delicious as it... More

Over all this was a great BACKPACKERS place to stay, Double rooms were nice and the bedding was fanastic. When traveling the westcoast it is advisable to stay over night somewhere as Nelson to Wanak/Queenstown is a pretty long drive. So Hokitika looked like a good spot. I had my parents with me so I was a bit cautions of... More

This is a brilliant little hostel to stay in! It has a homely, relaxed atmosphere with clean rooms and comforts such as fast internet, a cosy fire and a garden backing onto the beach (where you can see some spectacular sunsets). Most people seemed to stay for a night or two before travelling on, but we stayed a week and... More

Only meant to stay 2 nights here, but it was so lovely I stayed for 4! Claire and all the team and the 'hostel' looked after me so well and it was a lovely home from home for a few days. I didn't want to leave. The beds are the best I have slept in yet in New Zealand. Its... More

Spent one night here on our way down from Abel Tasman to Queenstown. Was one of the stand out places during our NZ trip, especially for the price, excellent value. ACCOMMODATION TYPE: Really homely feel to the place, like you're staying in someone's house. At the same time it's super relaxed and you don't feel like you're intruding into someone's... More
