Very expensive for what you do not receive. Minimal heat in bed room with small electric radiator. Best to go down the road and find somewhere else. Nice sheep but owners have no experience in running a B&B.. They used to have a sheep farm thus guest relations and expectation skills are lacking. They charge big city rates for a... More

Stayed 2 night at self-contained cottage outside of the main house. It faces uphill ranch and tennis court with sheep neighbors, but really quiet at night. The lodge is kinda outside of Greymouth town center, 5min drive to supermarket and 5 more min to center. It's right off the highway 6(?) to pancake rocks. The cottage is well maintained and... More

My boyfriend and I recently returned from an adventure down the West Coast of the South Island NZ. Truthfully staying at the Oak Lodge Homestay was one of our trip highlights! The location (in the middle of beautiful rolling hills), amenities (Spacious bedroom, lovely view, clean guestroom and high speed Wi-Fi... and Shirley's AMAZING breakfast), accommodations and service at this... How we wish we could have stayed longer than the one night we were booked in for. The room was very spacious and the balcony overlooked fantastic views. Shirley and Alastair were amazing hosts with a cup of tea and homemade cakes on arrival and homemade cakes to enjoy on our journey the following day after a lovely cooked breakfast.

This is a very pleasant place to stop if you are driving from Christchurch to Greymouth, over Arthur's Pass. The other reviewers are correct: comfortable and spacious rooms, a relaxing guest area with tea and cakes, and very pleasant hosts. Breakfast was excellent and the surroundings are peaceful.

- out of town (keep your eyes open otherwise you’ll miss the entrance to the drive way) - a bit outdated - owner likes talking to his guests - breakfast only from 7.30 - 8.45am with a little sheet to fill out the night before (very strict, a bit like being back at school) - very helpful and friendly hosts

We unfortunately had only one night to stay at this excellent home stay. We were made feel so welcome on arrival and throughout our stay. The facilities were excellent at the property and included a snooker table, tennis court and jacuzzi !! We were treated to tasty homemade cake -( baked by Shirley) we enjoyed a lovely beer with Alastair... More

How can you go wrong with such totally helpful owners? Then add a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. Add well-appointed rooms and public spaces. And a billiard room, sauna, and new jacuzzi. Fantastic! We totally loved this location, and would be delighted to return. Lastly, let me mention the fantastic breakfast and afternoon snacks. Really yummy!! If you're in... More

The cottage at Oak Lodge is supreme --- absolutely modern, clean, and new. It looked like we were the first people to ever stay in the cottage. Would definitely recommend it. Full Oven/cooktop, washer/dryer. We would definitely stay again. Exceptionally quiet and just a shop drive from Greymouth

We stayed in the self contained cottage recently en route to the Glaciers, and it was perfectly equipped for our needs. We were greeted by the owner, Alastair, on arrival and he showed us through the accomodation and recommended some local restaurants, etc. The cottage is only a couple of years old and everything was spotless. It also contains a... More
