After making the long drive from Queenstown we were worried we weren't going to arrive at the hostel in time. Wasn't even an issue as the owner would have stayed open until we arrived! This hostel has a very cosy feel to it and it's a shame we were staying longer than a night. The owner also gave us great... More

By far the most incredible hostel that I've ever stayed in. Clean, polite staff, comfortable and with free kayaks and bicycles. The interior decoration is phenomenal; is recommend a detour to Greymouth purely to stay here.

The place really gives the feeling of a global village with lots of artefacts from all over the world. It was homely. Loved the lounge area with a piano, fireplace, library, guitar etc. So many activities to do which included free kayaking, free bicycles etc. Get top floor as we were on bottom floor and you can hear sounds of... Truly a beautifull place, very clean rooms bathroom and kitchen, nice staff and facilities you'd sooner expect in a 5 star hotel. Had a great stay here :) oh and I strongly recommend using the hot tub and free bikes!

Wifi is there but you have to use zenbu internet tokens. pretty frustrating because have to refresh the browser everytime we need to log back in. awesome place to unwind. wwoofing is allowed. talk to russell about wwoofing. free bicycles, kayaks with life jackets, spa available, gym available. towels given every day. For long term stays you can strike a... More

During a spur of the moment South Island road trip, our travels led us to Greymouth. Even in peak season it's great to know that 2 kiwi blokes can wing their entire holiday and find accommodation where ever they end up. Global Village is presented nicely, quirky and clean. Loads of space to relax around the grounds, and as usual... More

This hostel had such a great communal feel. There’s a wonderful main room with a cozy fireplace and couches. There’s also a huge kitchen with multiple sinks, pots, pans, stoves, etc. that is available to guests. The kitchen was just perfect and there were fridges available to guests as well. We stayed in a private room, but had a shared... More

My stay started with getting picked up from the train station, which was very helpful as the hostel is a bit out of town. The staff got me checked in very quickly and gave me a map of the area. There were bikes available for use (I never used one though). It seemed they put effort into separating people out... More

What a fantastic place- firstly walked in a bit late for check in, only for the keys at the reception to be labelled with my name on them all ready and waiting. They really thought about this! Entered the accommodation into an African decorated haven- it was exquisite! Like a hotel not a hostel- I wish I would have stayed... More
