I was motivated to write this review after reading the last entry under 'terrible'. God knows how the person who wrote this suffered so much. I can in all honesty state that my stay at the ark was both charming and friendly. The staff at the time (from the North of England) were frankly excellent - read, both attentive and... More

It s a big, beautiful, warm hostel. And really quiet. The beds are more then comfortable, it has a lot of common spaces and a good equiped big kitchen with free breakfast in winter months. The managers are really nice and they provide you with 100 mb free internet.

First, as a panda lover, being reserved Panda Room was so cool for me. And that little panda doll on the bed, was sooo cute. I loved that beautiful garden view from my window. Even in a cloudy winter day it was that pretty. In the afternoon I had lunch on the bench which was so nice. Location speaking, very... More

Stayed here for two nights recently. Kitchen is well equipped and clean. Excellent recycling facilities. Lovely and warm in the winter. Staff were extremely nice and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed in a double room for a couple of nights in winter ... room was big but freezing cold despite heater. Staff were really friendly and provided extra blankets and hot water bottles but was still pretty cold. Kitchen was a bit on the dirty side and despite there not being many people staying it felt pretty crowded. Bathroom was... More

My mum and I stayed here for 2 nights in the 'giraffe' room. Everything was very clean and great cooking facilities. It was pretty cold when we were there but we still had time to enjoy the big balcony off the upstairs hallway. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms well equipped for cold nights. I wouldn't recommend spending... More

My daughter an I were looking for a tidy, reasonably priced place to stay for a weekend getaway to explore a bit of the west coast. We had a large room in this character backpackers. We found it quiet to stay in. A good location walking distance to lots of the town centre. Staff (owners I presume ) were friendly... More

I have just stayed these final three nights of April, 2015, in NOAH'S ARK HOSTEL, GREYMOUTH, NEW ZEALAND; my first stay ever in this hostel. It is a huge, wooden, historic Catholic building built during the 1860s' gold-rush to this region. Wow. What stood out for me from the beginning of my stay was the cleanliness and good organization in... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Location was good. Near the bus terminal and supermarket. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good sized rooms. Clean and comfortable beds. The lounge and kitchen was spacious. It felt very cosy and comfortable so much so that you feel like you are in a house rather than a hostel/ backpackers. Keep it up guys!
