We're so glad for trip advisor if only to have found Lupton lodge! The large purple room above the barn was as lovely as the photos, scrupulously clean, well maintained, lovely bathroom. The linens were so comfortable and I am picky! The location was perfect, between Tutukaka and Whangarei in the countryside. Andy and Karen are gracious and obviously dedicated... More

Beautifully renovated historic house in country orchard setting. Beautiful home cooked meals. Snooker room and pool and great choice of rooms. Close to waterfalls and lovely beaches and diving. Great stop off on way to bay of Islands

We enjoyed our stay in Lupton Lodge very much. No doubt it was a fantastic accommodation and an ideal place where you can take a good rest after a long time travelling. The room was clean, cosy and very nice decorated, which made us feel like at home. But this is not just the only thing that we liked Lupton... More

A lovely place with plenty of land to explore. We had a pleasant stay here while on our honeymoon. We enjoyed the home cooked meal by Andy and games room playing snooker followed by a dip in the pool. Lupton is a great place for some peace and quiet, staying in historic house and quite close to exploring the east... More

The Lupton Lodge is one word: beautiful. The rooms are tastefully decorated. Andy is both host and a fantastic cook, and will make you a special cooked breakfast or even a very nice dinner if you like. Even his packed lunches have made an impression. We were upgraded to the blue with lots of space, what a surprise!

Stayed here for 3 nights near Whangarei . It's a little off the beaten path, but a very nice hotel in an 1896 historic villa with a converted 2-storey barn. It's location is great for exploring the east coast of the Northlands. The proprietor Andy made dinner for us our first night and great breakfasts for 3 mornings. He was... More

Delightfully converted older house. We had a large room with a bathroom which was a nearly as large. There's a well equipped 'playroom' area with books, DVDS, beach/pool towels and a large well maintained pool table and accessories. Andy is a great cook and breakfasts were excellent. As it is a car drive into Whangarei we were more than happy... More

Lovely quiet location in a beautifully converted 1850's house. The rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated, whilst retaining all of the old world charm. There is a swimming pool, and they provide an excellent breakfast and dinner on request, although we did not dine there in the evening. Andy, the host, comes from the UK and was a pleasure to... We were warmly welcomed on our arrival and shown to our spacious room. It was well appointed with free wifi. Bed was comfortable and we slept well. We ate both nights at The Lodge - Andy is a great cook and there is a good wine list - prices are reasonable. You will need a car to tour the area... More

An amazing 8 days in Lupton Lodge. We stayed in the very nicely refurbished Barn, with our 3 kids, after a two weeks of motor-home trip in the south. The barn is a great place for the families, as the kids have some privacy in the beautiful top floor appartment. We enjoyed the bbq, the breakfasts, the heated pool, the... More
