I have just spent a week at Flames International Hotel In Whangarei. This was a business trip and the hotel met all my needs Rooms are warm and large with big screen TV's and nice hot showers and baths in each room. The hotel has a top restaurant with a good selection to suit every ones taste. The staff are... More

Travelling with my family around and we could not get to our destination so we decided to book in for a hotel nearby. Friendly staff and attentive to our needs. Clean hotel and we will love to go back again to this hotel. I would recommend this to friends and family.

This hotel might well be a cut above others in Whangarei but whatever you do, don't have the toast. On the weekend that I stayed the kitchen was closed and so I had to resort to having the continental breakfast. Various hotels have various prices but most often Continental Breakfast (toast and cereal) is included in the price of a... More

This place is very pleasant, firstly, the staff are very friendly. The rooms are very clean, and the in-room mini bar is very well stocked. Try and get an upstairs room (There is only two floors) as these rooms have a great view over the bush and onto a part of the inner harbour. The rooms have a full width... More

Easy parking, friendly staff but rooms on the first floor facing the pool have limited privacy. Rooms at the lava bar end have the potential to be noisey at night. Tidy 1980 decor with very small balconies. No aircon but standing fans provided which we were grateful for as it was a very hot night when we stayed. Overall old... More

Cant fault the welcome or the atmosphere and all very clean. There is a little updating required in terms of the fixtures and fittings but if you want a hotel that has an nice ambience then this is the place to stay

The hotel is in good condition and well located to town and airport. Has views out over the harbour. The rooms are large and spotless, we were impressed how clean the room and hotel guest area's are. We had great service and the food was very good, they have won a number of food awards - you will see and... More

Very helpful staff. Clean rooms. Stayed towards the end of the hotel and it was very quiet. Local store very close by. Very good experience on our first night in NZ. This was our first stop on the way up to the Bay of Islands. The Whangerie falls were lovely.

We stayed for two nights and the room was great, good value, well equipped and quiet. The manager was friendly and assisted with local directions. The "gormet" restaurant had a great menu but let itself down with very slow service, despite almost no one eating there. Perhaps that was the problem and they are short staffed. The beef dishes were... More

Stayed here on an overnight trip from the far north. Robin the manager checked us in. Check in was very quick. The bedroom was well equipped and clean. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff here. We had a meal in the restruant which was amazing. Tim the head chef is exceptional. The calamari and steak were cooked to... More
