We spent one night here whilst passing through Wanganui and would happily stay there again if we were in the area again. We stayed in the B&B - it was full of character befitting the property and its history, which the owner told us all about over a fantastic breakfast. A short but pleasant walk along the river has you... More

We stayed in the YHA Hostel which is part of Braemar house. The hostel was excellent in every way, we only wish we had upgraded to the B&B to experience the glorious ambience of the main House. We were able to sunbathe in the beautiful subtropical gardens on comfortable sun loungers and chat with lots of interesting people who were... More

This fabulous colonial villa close to the Whanganui River is a real charmer. I want to return to stay in the B & B part of the main house. However, this review is of the night the child & I spent in one of the sweet little rooms behind the main house. A large beautiful garden to relax in. Homely,... More

A pleasant B & B in a quiet setting with a friendly and efficient host.Private bathroom and toilet. A wide range of fruit, cereals and cooked food offered for breakfast. Comfortable and very clean facilities including sitting room with a TV and piano. A fair walk to city centre but only a couple of minutes by car. A couple of... More

Loverly old building combining luxury B&B with a backpacker component. Very comfortable room and facilities, off-road parking for motorcycles and cars, charming host. Great value for money. Would highly recommend.

This was our first stop off on our north island tour of New Zealand. We only stayed one night while passing up from Wellington. We stayed in the YHA hostel (not the B&B part), in a private double bedroom with shared bathroom. Thankfully the place is quiet and small, unlike some YHA hostel. We were very close to the bathroom,... More

This great place has a B&B in one part and hostel accommodation in the other. Set in a beautiful building, with fantastic hosts, this was a great choice of hostel. I was fortunate enough to have the dorm to myself. If the hostel were full I could see bathroom might become an issue with one bathroom for 10 beds. But... More

The Braemar is more of a guest house than a classic B&B, as it has a dozen or so rooms in the main house which share bath facilities, and a YHA hostel on the back grounds, though the two are separate entities. The main house has a balcony which runs along the front, which is very pleasant in good weather.... More

We had a nice stay at Braemar House last night. Robert made us very welcome, provided great advice about making the most of our brief stop in Wanganui including where to dine (The Red Lion) and served a generous breakfast in the morning. The room was warm, cosy and quiet and exceptionally clean as were the separate bathroom facilities. Braemar... More

By we are searching and found this place eventually by going on line on our tablet and there she was. We were so glad we chose her.
