Booked in for one night. Lovely setting in very pretty street. Great locality - easy walk down Victoria Ave to City centre. Very friendly receptionist on check- in, helpful tips etc. easy access to free wifi. Room well set-up and clean and tidy. All facilities working. Would recommend.

The reception staff were friendly. The room was spacious and clean. The room was cold and it took a while to finally workout how to change the air conditioning to heat the room. The restaurant is terrible. Absolutely not worth risking another meal in there ever again. The most god forsaken bunch of meat and vegetables that have ever been... More

My wife and I stayed one night, a Saturday. When I made the booking by phone, I asked for a quiet room as I'm a very light sleeper. I was told all the studios were at the rear of the complex and were therefore quiet. However, we were put in the one right next to the laundry and boiler room... More

Stayed for 5 nights with a group. Could not fault staff or venue. free wi-fi is very quick, easy to set up. Breakfast was good, very filling. The only thing that could be altered is the fridge door on unit 12 opens wrong way, it is a simple job to change over. Over all a very pleasant stay.

This is a review on the restaurant only of this establishment. We have had a very good meal here in the past. Whether the chef or ownership has changed, I do not know, but the meal was very average, bland and over cooked. I had the baked fish and it was tough and all pretty much dumped onto the plate.... The staff are mostly friendly (the Frenchman in the bar excluded) but its a pretty dark and tired hotel. The studio unit has the ubiquitous fridge that clicks, whines and hums through the night. Sky reception is a bit dodgy. Bathrooms are classic 1970s! Restaurant is ok, but very old school. Free wifi so happy with that. Visit the gym....a... More

I enjoyed my stay in Wanganui. The accommodation was very clean, comfortable and affordable, the meals and service excellent and the office staff very helpful. The situation was good, just off the main street and adjacent to the well known Collegiate College with its English styled buildings and impressive chapel. I would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends.

I thought this was fair for the price I paid - thought it was a studio unit but got a space one bedroom plus lounge, kitchen and bathroom for NZ$99/night. It was clean, comfortable and functional although the decor is extremely dated. Not somewhere to stay if you're looking for something special, but if you want somewhere clean and comfortable,... May have just been my lucky day but got a room which was more spacious and like a suite - with car parking at the door - and even real coffee to brew. The property itself is ageing and could do with better laundry facilities but my experience of staying here was very pleasant.

In reading recent reviews, I can understand the writers' views, although for this type of accommodation in New Zealand one isn't surprised by things being "dated". My husband's family just had a reunion, with over 45 people ranging from age 81 to 2. We completely booked the circular building, which has a lawn and barbecue area in the middle (about... More
