Basic room with basic level of comfort. Main doors are locked at 10pm so you must climb over a small wall in the car park to walk to a rear entry which your room key gives access through. This was advised to me at check in but I would think this would not work for people with limited mobility..

Staff were friendly and room was spotlessly clean. The price was pretty reasonable and the bed was comfortable. The hotel could just do with a bit of an update. Easy to find on the main road into town and opposite a supermarket for supplies.

Rooms a bit dated but adequate....was quite noisy being a Friday night with the local car enthusiasts hanging out across the road...........the receptionist seemed like she had chosen the wrong career parth...wasn't friendly.

Shorter drive today made shorter by not visiting Dawson Falls on Mt. Taraniki because of very thick cloud cover. Arrived early afternoon, staff very friendly and obliging, shown to our room and then walked a short flat walk into town. Had lunch in the Rutland Arms after walking through town down to the river mouth and back. Missed the riverboat... More

We received a friendly greeting and the staff looked after us very well. The hotel is very central.Nice spacious restaurant and Bar.The room was very clean and comfortable. We were there Xmas night and the staff made sure we could get an evening meal despite the fact we did not require the Xmas buffet. Our room overlooked a liquor outlet so it was... I love the feeling of the hotel, I think it was built in the 1960s? It has that dated but hip charm about it. I think the staff are friendly. This time I had no choice but to stay in a budget room. The room was dated but large and right next to the lawn and the swimming pool. WHen... More

Thank you for your feedback. I was disappointed to hear that you had a few issues whilst staying with us. Even though it was a very busy time for us we like to think that we treat all guests the same. I apologize for the wifi dropping off, we are currently installing ultrafast broadband so that should improve. I have... More

Our family stayed here for a couple of nights. Central location so handy to everything. Comfortable accommodation in a family unit. Kids enjoyed the pool. Lovely breakfast in the onsite restaurant included in our room rate. The staff were friendly and service was excellent. We were really pleased with our stay and thought it represented excellent value for money. We... More

The whole hotel needs a bit of a makeover as it is outdated. The beds are comfortable and the staff were friendly enough. Internet was average. I chose not to have breakfast as the dinning room was very bland, just a big open room with no ambiance at all, I prefer a room which has direct access outside to which... More

If you can get a road-facing upstairs room that would be your best bet. I got a garden facing downstairs room, which even in spring felt a bit dark and well, not fresh. The décor in the rooms is half 70s, half 90s, and with modern bathrooms - a little too yester year to feel comfortable in. More attention needs... More

While on business in Wanganui I spent three nights in this classic seventies style hotel. The hotel is showing its age but it does provide the total package - food and accommodation. The dinner food was exceptional - so we ate there three times. We only encountered one minor problem on the last night - slow service. The breakfasts were... More
