Glorious NZ bush protected by a rodent proof fence. Stayed at the homestead built circa 1906. Massive. Had the master bedroom at the North East end of the building. Beautiful period furniture and fittings. Comfortable bed. Shared bathroom down the hall but we were the only residents. Viv and Theo were very attentive to our needs. Very nice dinner and... More

We visited at lunchtime... we had booked and were the only ones in the main dining room there - so were a bit spoiled for service. The menu was basic but had something for everyone and the coffee and tea were hot and satisfying. The heaters were turned on for us on arrival so it was a bit chilly until... More

We stayed for 1 night in April, and were given a choice of rooms...we chose the large, beautiful Master bedroom (2). Beautifully restored old homestead, classic furnishings, comfy bed! Be aware, bathrooms are shared, and located just down the hall from the rooms...we were the only occupants on the night, so this was no issue at all. Viv, the manager... More

While we've visited the homestead as day visitors before this was our first overnight stay. The home is set in an amazing rainforest which has been extensively predator fenced to protect the rare and precious native birds that now live here. We saw stitchbirds, saddlebacks and the NZ Robin which are all endangered. The Robins were almost landing on us.... More

My fiance and I held our wedding ceremony (outside) and function (parlour) here, we were not disappointed with the venue, service and attentiveness of Viv and Theo. The setting in the wildlife reserve is fantastic and the homestead just beautiful. They catered for seventy five guests during the evening and provided for booked out accommodation over night with breakfasts the... More

Bushy Park is a 100-year-old former mansion on what used to be a large sheep farm. It is now part of a small local nature conservancy that includes remarkable old growth rain forest (more about that later). The mansion has been converted to a small hotel (6 guest rooms) and conference center. We were there at a very off-season time... More
