We were greeted by a gentlemen who offered to show us the rooms before we decided to stay. I later learned when chatting that this man was looking after the motel for the owners whilst they were away on holiday. The owners should be very grateful that they have such good friends! We felt extremely welcome and comfortable instantly. If... More

The very helpful and pleasant lady at reception told us that they had no 4 star rooms left only the cottages which were older. This was fine with us and we were shown cottage number 1. This little cottage was great , so clean and welcoming. Certainly wasn't dated or old looking. This motel is one of the best we... More

Stopped here on our final night before heading to Auckland Airport.. The chalet style cabins are comfortable, very clean and have everything you need. The grounds are well kept and has parking in front of each chalet.. There is even a car wash area which is thoughtful and very handy, Couldn't fault this in any way and will definitely look... More

We were pleasantly surprised by the cute chalet. It has everything you need and you can have them bring you a good breakfast in the morning. You can hear the waves from the ocean, which I find relaxing. The bed is comfortable and everything is clean. The owners are friendly and can give you good tips and advice of where... More

I have visited NZ for 2 months for each of the past 6 years. The Coastal Motor Lodge is one of my favorite stops when visiting the Coromandel area. Owners, Tom & Liz have consistently provided excellent service and maintain maticulously clean units and are a wealth of helpful knowledge about activities and places to see in the area. I... More

We had an upstairs room close to reception (we asked for a quiet room, and this was set back a bit from the road). The owners were welcoming and helpful. We loved the spacious room, with cafetiere and coffee provided. The deck outside looked over towards the river estuary. We walked down on the beach to see the wading birds.... More

Ask for the chalet room and reap the rewards of a delightful stay. Clean, tidy well appointed, great beds and deck for viewing seaside. Backdrop treed And birds love the setting. Friendly owners, helpful too. Birding nearby as well as in Miranda area. Shaded units less hot but fans available if you need.some traffic noise but quieter after workers leave town.

Very friendly people and the accommodation is great! It is neat, clean and has a humongous bed! They also have beautiful gardens and the beach is right across (although you have to cross the main road). It's great for a weekend getaway but a bit expensive for a longer stay. The only thing that I really would recommend is screens... More

We stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage which was immaculately clean and had everything we needed to make a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The accommodation is situated in a lovely position just outside of Thames, across the road from the sea. There are nice walks nearby and the gardens and grounds are well maintained. The moteliers are friendly and helpful.
