The accommodation at the Junction is very much a 'get what you pay for' affair (which makes it quite basic) but this is offset by the central location and access to the lovely bar and restaurant downstairs. Our hosts ironed out a glitch with our room assignment without a problem.

Looking forward to a seafood dinner in the local pub at Thames. Grahams Room most inviting. My wife had Fish of the Day & was very delicious, however I ordered Pacific Salmon. The prawns were hot & delightful & so was the asparagus however the salmon was cool & half cooked. Very disappointing. Sorry I cannot recommrnd the Junction Hotel... More

Stayed here on the way to the corromandel, very quiet so had a four bed dorm for the pair of us. It was a Friday night and there was a singer in the bar downstairs which was directly beneath us, so decided to go downstairs and join in. A bit dated and the bathrooms defo need a refurb, we stole... More

While I cycled trough New Zealand , I found this place in Thames. They gave me an excellent room with shower for 35 dollar a night. Thats the same price you pay for a 4 dorm in Auckland! I was surprised the room was clean and good and the bed extreme comfortable! I booked a second night! The kitchen that... More

My husband, sister and my self stayed for two nights. Friday and Saturday. The double room was small, godd bed, shower good size, very clean and only $95 for both nights! The single room was the same and only $50 for both nights. It was party central both nights but we still slept through it. Not the Volunteer Fire Siren... More

Looking for somewhere inexpensive? Avoid the Sunkist Hostel with its rude owner and get a room at the Junction Hotel instead. Room was a bit small, but everything worked fine. We didn't try the pub downstairs, but that seemed fine too.

We were recommended The Junction for dining by our hosts at Cotswold Cottage. We were not disappointed. There was a good selection of wine and beers and a varied menu. The food was excellent and did offer smaller sized meals which suited us down to the ground. It was full of locals which is always a good sign and the... More

The Grahamstown Restaurant in the Junction Hotel is a great place for dinner. Three of us stopped here for the first time and enjoyed good, wholesome fare from an uncomplicated menu. The service was excellent. I had a steak done exactly to my liking. Not the cheapest, but worth every cent. Can only recommend highly.

We stop here on the way to and from Coromandel. It is nicely decorated and has a good atmosphere. The beer is served in pint glasses which maybe too much if only stopping for a short stopover. The Waikato was good and I prefer a seat next to the window where you can look out onto the street and watch... More

Popped in here for tea (that's evening meal) and was pleasantly surprised. Excellent service from the staff, good beer (free taste if you ask) and excellent food. Not the cheapest in town, but probably the best. I had a Caesar salad from the specials menu and I still can't figure out how they managed to soft boil and bread crumb... More
