My room cost $75 and had a double bed and two singles. Quite dated, especially the bathroom, but bedding was cleaning and plentiful towels. It was within easy walk of restaurants and cafes. The hotel warns guests that it is very noisy Thursday to Saturday nights and I stayed a Wednesday night and there was loud music until 2am. An... More

We went back to The Empire for another one of there lovey meals. Once again it was very good. Plenty on the plate., a good pub meal. This time though unfortunatly they have done away with there VERY POPULAR $15 meals and complimentry drink. We stayed and still had a good enjoable meal but cost us double this time. We... More

Was in Palmerston North for concert last week and just happenned to park the car outside this hotel. We were looking for a place to eat and decided to have a look at this hotels bistro menu. We were pleasantly surprised not only at the range of meals offered but also the most reasonable prices. I chose the roast of... More

If you are considering this hotel, then you know you are not going to get luxury. But you are going to get a spacious room for a good price, a good shower, and a convenient location for central Palmerston North. The hotel site warns there may be noise, but no hotel noise reached our room. The rubbish truck emptying the... More

Everytime we go to palmy we go up to the empire for a good "Pub Food" meal. They have a good special on with about 8 to 10 choices..$15 to $18 and you get a free wine or beer too. They come with chips and salad (unless Specified) and nice a big. I would reccomend the "Beef schnitzel". We usually... More

It was ok for a short stay. We arrived here late at 11pm driving from Lake Taupo, and while the reception was already close, their staff was nice enough to wait for us at the bar. The room was a letdown and since there's a big gap between the floor and the room door, you can hear pretty much everything... More

Stayed one night in January 2013. Room clean and en-suite facilities very good. Managed to have a authentic Mexican meal in the restaurant served by Fernando from Guataumala. Unwittingly chose a day when Palmerston North were hosting a national stock car convention & rally so had to deal with the traffic diversion. Staff helpful & friendly.

Having stayed in hostels travelling when i was younger I know the difference between a hostel and a hotel. This was sort of a missing link. There is parking, but you dont necessarily feel your car is safe, the rooms look clean but there is something that doesn't make you feel that they are and the soundproofing is appalling. You... More

THe room was very basic but for $57 was great value. The room was above a pub but no noise was evident - restaurant below was great. A five minute walk to town was great with restaurants all very close. Staff were all polite and efficient - will be staying again.

My wife and I booked this hotel as we found quite good reviews about this hotel. It is centrally located, few minutes from the shopping malls, The Square, and other fine dining places in PN. The hotel was quite cheap and the room was small but clean. It is funny that the Hotel Reception is usually closed out all the... More
