Stayed for business. Decor old fashioned but room very spacious, bed very comfortable, good thick curtains so dark for sleeping, no noise even though I know I had a neighbour, shower hot and good pressure, wi-fi good once it came on (problem initially), helpful front staff, TV fine, all the free-to-air stations available locally, free parking outside the room. Breakfast... More

Just returned from 2 nights at the Grange and wish we could have stayed longer! Great location just a short stroll from Margaret River Main Street, making it easy to go for dinner or a drink without having to drive. The room was large, clean and comfortable and good value for money. It might not be the most modern but... More

Dear mlad123, that's more like it! I was beginning to worry we'd lost our mojo a couple of reviews back. But, seriously, thanks for writing in and, you know, the things that you've mentioned in a positive manner ARE the things that we count as important: location, comfort, value. We will continue to work on those themes and we look... More

We stayed here over the 2015 Easter long weekend. Hotels in Margaret River at that time were heavily booked, expensive, and generally had a 3 night minimum stay. Grange on Farrelly was therefore a good choice since the three night minimum was quite affordable. This is a very basic hotel, reminiscent of a Best Western or other budget lodging. Our... More

Hello Jennifer-Kate, thanks for writing in. We won't recoil from your 'old fashioned' tag, we've never claimed modernity as one of our strong points. However, for service, location and value and generally a good, low key experience . . . well, those are the things that matter. Oh yes, and just for the record, all our beds are Queen Size.... More

Having inspected the room on arrival after paying the $156 queen room rate, we decided it was less than comfortable and could not stay there. It comprised thread-bare carpets, old furniture and cracked walls and had a creepy feel. I would strongly advise anyone considering staying here to rethink, there are much nicer better value hotels. When we told the... More

Hello Abbey C. Thanks for writing in. Never let it be said that we can't accept criticism. Yes, something has shifted slightly and a couple of cracks have appeared, probably due to construction next door in the quite recent past, we are aware of those cracks and have them on the list to deal with in the quiet season coming... Yes this is one of the cheapest hotels in the Margaret river but I wouldn't advise going here. I've spent one night here for $145 and I would advise everyone to spend a little extra and find a decent place. It's so outdated, old and creepy. A place like this shouldn't be charging anything over $100 - it has potential... More

Hello Vittorio. Thanks for writing in. Sorry you didn't like the decor and were feeling creepy. One of the difficulties of owning an iconic property like this one is that you can never be all things to all people. If someone doesn't like a bit of history, largish rooms with plenty of timber in evidence, a slightly old fashioned ambiance... More

sweet little cottage feeling motel. The bathroom was big with a dated spa bath. This place if perfect to stay if you are wanting to do a lot of site seeing and not spend too much time in the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful also.

Large and clean rooms in the Forrest, as said outdated. Bed linen was a bit torn, mattress quiet soft, fridge in the room was very noisy vibrating. However like the vicinity to town and would stay there again. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed.

Hello Marshase. Thanks for writing in, Sorry you got a torn something, but we are not short of back up linen so I'm sure that would have been removed from the system by now, whatever it was. Anyway, thanks for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you again one day. Regards, Richard. More

Stayed here. Got a free upgrade when we arrived and the gentleman at the reception was friendly and helpful making us feel welcome even though we arrived late in the evening nothing was any trouble for him. Rooms a little old but well presented and clean and made up every day if you would like. Will definitely come and stay... More

Lovely old buildings kept new. Warm and clean, large rooms. Sad the pond was empty but no big. Would recommend. Nice spa bath. Would be good with a bubbles but lovely warm water. Supreme breakfast as well

Hi RandomTripGuy, thanks for writing in with your positive assessment, There would/should have been some bubble bath tubes in the bathroom, sorry if there weren't. The poor old pond has sprung one too many leaks and we're just working out how to fill it in without too much expense. Anyway, glad you had a pleasant stay and we look forward... More

My husband and I stayed here for one night, admittedly over the peak season of Easter weekend. So we appreciated we were paying a premium. However for $250 a night one would have hoped for a little more. The room was dated and musty. Finishes are what you would expect in your grandmothers house. We had one tea spoon, and... More

Hello Roisin S. Thanks for writing in. Yes, this industry is a strange one and prices everywhere are dependent on supply and demand on the day. Easter, Christmas and a handful of long weekends and special events do distort things in one direction but, on the other hand. a wet afternoon in August will likely see the reverse. In general...
