This was my first hostel as a solo traveller. I was very nervous, but was welcomed by a lovely girl at reception who made me feel more at ease. I booked a private room for a couple of nights to help me get settled. It was a lovely, clean and bright room with an ensuite, TV and tea and coffee,... More

Habitat was my home for three months. Almost everybody in the reception is amazing and very nice. There are a lot of free activities, free breakfast with very good pancakes on Wednesday and free barbecue on thursday. FANTASTIC housekeeping team. I really enjoyed my stay and i miss this place .

Habitat HQ is great. Easy $15 airport transfer direct to outside it. Quick easy check-in, nice comfy beds. Someone complained beds were squeaky, but compared to other hostels, they're new and great. Air con is good, two types of lighting (one dim for night time, so doesn't wake everyone up which is great), clean bathrooms and kitchen. Free brekkie is... More

I was welcomed by friendly and helpful staff and my one-night stay was pretty good. My dorm room was an en suite and it was very convenient. Breakfast was included in my stay which was very nice! The night I stayed, they had a BBQ night and I had some free food! The kitchen was pretty clean and well-equipped and... More

Would recommend! Bathrooms are huge for sharing! Beds are comfy. Kitchen is well equipped. Very close to beach, shops and tram stop to Melbourne. Breakfast is eaten by 8 so get up early! Buses to airport are handy, much better than Airbus. Plenty of stuff going on each night. Tv room, but only three small sofas so not much space.... More

I have stayed in a lot of hostels over the past 6 months or so and this one has got to be up here as one of the best. When you walk in you are greeted by friendly reception staff and a nice common area with a TV lounge just area off to the side. Very clean and loads of... More

I choose for Habitat HQ because of the good reviews, but I regret I choose to stay here. First the staff was not friendly (do it yourself is the most heard answer), they dont treat you as a guest. It is really big (this doesn't look like it at the pictures) and a lot of people literally living there so... More

Fun stay here, staff very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Good location being 10min walk to the beach. Good public transport links within easy walking distance. It's a happy atmosphere and you feel safe here. Downside being sofas in communal areas are stained uncomfortable and dirty. Several gas hobs in the kitchen did not work leading to queues at busy mealtimes.... More

This was our first stop in Melbourne and we enjoyed it so much we extended our stay 3 times! Most of the staff are really friendly and helpful, a couple are a bit grouchy. Really good communal vibe as well. The live music is really good also. Would definitely recommend
