Had booked to stay a week @ the Coffee Palace; after one night in the dirtiest dorm room ever and having myself and others harrased by drunken roommates we had to leave. Staff were apologetic but had done nothing in the past to address the issue. May be a one off experience but I cannot believe they allowed some of... more

Stayed for 2 nights in a double room which probably needed a bit of TLC but was a good size and had its own sink, all for $45 a night. If you are in St Kilda for the Neighbours tour then the bus picks you up right across the road so it's a great location. Also the Elephant & Wheelbarrow... more

Had the time of my life there...There's always something to do, because the crew organise a lot of activities..They definately make it easy to meet all the other people who are staying in the hostel. And the free pancakes in the morning are just perfect! Just like the location (great bars closeby: ESPY, lots of fancy but also cheap restaurants,... more

I spent a total of two weeks at the Palace over the summer and it was the highlight of my 7 week trip around southern Aus. There were always plenty of things to do: pool comps, soccer comps, movie marathons in the TV room, pub crawls, roof top BBQs and the list goes on. The staff were fabulous, very helpful... more

This backpackers started the best year of my life. I arrived in Melbourne and knew nothing or no-one. Anto and crew made me feel at home from the moment I arrived and went out of their way to make sure that i settled in. Duing my time there, I saw the care they displayed towards all their guests and when... more

I absolutely loved it here!! Meant to be there for a couple of wks but stayed 2/3 months. Its not for people who dont like to party and are picky about cleanliness (remember u r travelling?!) Such a great atmosphere, met friends for life and it really was my best time in Oz although I needed a holiday from alcohol... more

so the place doesn't look the best, and maybe it's not a five star hotel, but it is a place where you go simply for the atmosphere, and the people you meet. i checked in for two weeks and ended up stayin for two months. the staff were always helpful, giving advice on where to head out at night or... more

We stayed in this hostel, basically because we left it till the last minute, and this looked ok in the brochure, BIG MISTAKE!!! We had booked a double room, and were on the 3rd floor with 10 other rooms. The first problem was that there were only 2 bathrooms on the floor, one with a shower. That ok you might... more
