As we saw this hostel in the internet, we ignored the bad reviews because someone wrote, that this hostel now is managed by a new manager. So we thought we give it a chance. We booked for 7 nights in a double room. As we arrived it seems to be all right, but when we got to our room it... More

Hey there! Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. I'm sorry to hear that your time at the Coffee Palace wasn't up to your standards. Our cleaning team works around the clock to make sure that the place is up to scratch. We've also just bought all new linen for all our private rooms. The building is 120... More

First night, had a 8 share dorm which turned out to have no electricity (so no light) for $26. Next night, I was moved to a 6 share dorm. They said that because of a music festival, they had to increase room rates because the hostel was 'like an airline and adjusted rates based on supply and demand'. So I... More

Hi there, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. I am sorry to hear that your time at the Coffee Palace was sub par. Our power went out for 4 hours during your stay as a result of an electrical anomaly in our switch board. We had guys on site correcting this as fast as we could. Our... More

Good hostel for a social time, awesome location in St.Kilda very close to all the amenities in the area. Alot of work going on in terms of refurbishment which os only a good thing as this hostel is a bit rough round the edges. Pretty good on the security front, and the staff all very friendly and knowledgeable of the... More

I hate giving bad reviews but after a night at this place I had to. For $155 we got one night in a double bed room. Which was a ridiculous price for a room that barely fits in the bed and a toilet that the whole floor shares. We were so upset by the room we hoped to sleep asap... More

Great little place to stay. A bit shabby and thread bare but who cares for $23 a night with a cooked dinner thrown in? Big dining area, kitchen clean as can be expected, 24 hour reception, free brewed coffee till 10 am every morning, friendly atmosphere. Clean rooms and good quality clean bedding, some with en suites. Near to beach... More

Where do I start, my friend and I spent 4 nights here and would not do so again. It was the most disgusting place we've ever stayed at, their idea of cleaning was to use a dustpan and brush on the floor. The showers were mouldy, floors filthy, toilets constantly stunk of piss. Our room smelt terrible all the time,... More

We stayed three nights and paid 120 per night though it was a very busy weekend and no accommodation was available. If you are light sleeper forget this place. Staff were friendly though unskilled,no towels in our room and when we went and got them they were clean though badly stained, also when on the third day they did deliver towels... More

Me and my boyfriend chose to stay in the coffee palace as we wanted a cheap and cheerful double room to stay for our first week in Melbourne. We were attracted to the picture displaying a nice, new, clean room and unfortunately this is not what we got. Our room was a bed, a sink with continuous dripping taps, and... More

There has been a huge improvement since the new management have taken over. All the facilities are currently being updated and improved. Great location, friendly staff, great value for money. And a free cup of coffee every morning!
