We booked on the website a double room with en suite toilet but shared shower for 60$ per night. When we arrived in hostel, we found a really bad surprise: the room was devoid of en suite toilet, heating and window!!! It looked like a prison... We spoke with the guys working at the reception and they apologized, telling us... More

Great spot just off the main drag in St Kilda, That's where the goodness ends unfortunately! Our bed was entirely broken, there are contradictory signs everywhere! "checkout at 10, checkout at 11, checkout at 12???" Harsh prohibitive signs - "No alcohol in rooms" and my favourite - "This is an old historic building and the fire alarms are very sensitive,... I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Coffee Palace! There have been vast changes in the bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas that improve the comfort and appearance greatly. I would advise all travelers to make their way to the Coffee Palace to experience its great location and of course a great cup of coffee!

I had an amazing time at the Coffee Palace! It is in the best possible location, right in the heart of St Kilda-. It is only a short walk to the beach and a 10minute tram to the city. Beautiful building and very friendly staff- See you next time I'm in St Kilda!!

I stayed at this Hostel last year with my partner, it was in pretty bad shape, but as it was cheap and it's in a great location we decided to give it another go. We were pleasantly suprised at how much better it was this time round. We were given a room that had just been fitted with brand new... More

I couldn't think of anywhere worse than staying here... How is it even still running? It is an awful hostel with awful staff who are rude and extremely inconsiderate.. What they are getting paid to do I do not know because half the time they're all sitting down ignoring everyone and avoiding any kind of work. The building itself is... More

Hello, Thanks for leaving a review. I'm very disappointed to hear that you were less than impressed by our staff here at the Coffee Palace. I have sent you a private message in order to try and identify wasn't on their game. We have customer service training sessions every fortnight to make sure that everyone in the team is offering... As a well travelled backpacker, hostels all over Australia have been my home for the best part of the last year. As soon as my friend, boyfriend and I entered this premise- 'Coffee Palace' (unsure of the relativity between this name and the establishment as it was neither a palace nor offered coffee facilities) the waft of staleness and general... Hi there, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. It's concise informative feedback like this that helps us to improve our hostel! We offer freshly brewed coffee to all our guest everyday, just have to swing by reception and see our front desk coffee artists. We have just taken over the Coffee Palace recently and have had a... I have been staying in Coffee Palace long term and have been really enjoying it. Since the new management have come in they have worked to improve the amenities of the hostel; replacing all bedding, repairing the wear and tear from the previous owners, installing new locks on all doors and are working on renovating each of the floors. Coffee... More

This is the hostel we booked through STA travel. We decided to make Melbourne our first stop and where we would set everything up. When the staff were there, they were helpful and had everything set up for us in 2 days (bank accounts, medicare etc...) Do not rely on them to help you find work. They do not help... More

What a vile place! From the moment we checked in we wanted to check out again, but we couldn't without losing our money. They wouldn't give us a refund even though it stated on the website they had a 24hr cancellation policy. That was problem no.1 when we got to our room it hadn't been cleaned in months, there was...
