We were going to have dinner at Attica and didn't want to drive home after this special event, so I booked this place after reading the reviews here. Very friendly greeting upon arrival and all in order. I had requested a quiet room at the back and we were given a room in the basement. I admit I was initially... More

We really enjoyed our stay here, staff were friendly and helpful, really good position on Fitzroy st. Worth seeing for the eclectic art work. Only slight issues are the walls are thin, so you can here noise, water pipes etc and the wooden venetians didn't quite close so light from the outside st came into the room at night Also... More

Tolarno Hotel saved the day for us and looked after us really well over Christmas after our motorhome broke down on Christmas Eve. A wonderful welcome, recommendation for Christmas lunch and advice of the best local places to visit. The hotel itself was lovely. A converted art gallery and individually designed rooms. We had a kitchen in ours, which was... More

If you are wanting to stay out of the city the Tolarno takes some beating. It's really well located near the action in St Kilda but quiet and away from the negative elements of this part off town. We requested a room at the rear of the hotel and didnt hear any street noise. They have a cheap deal for... More

The stay at Tolarno was absolutely great. The service staff were so friendly and warm and provided us with great travelling tips. Even provided me with 3 days complimentary parking at the nearby Metropol carpark (given that it was the first time staying with them). Special mention to a particular staff, Liberty, who made our stay a very enjoyable one.... More

Stayed recently for 1 night based on TA reviews. The location is fantastic, two tram lines pass nearby, it's a lovely heritage building, it's a short walk to St Kilda beach, staff are helpful, and the original art everywhere is fantastic but...(and it's not a big but), my superior mansion room was much smaller than expected, and walking past the... Dear cristinahSydney, Thank you for your recent review. It was very nice to hear you enjoyed the location of the hotel, the art and staff service. Tolarno's was once a private home, and a very large one at that, so our rooms are of various shapes and sizes; no two rooms are the same. I am sorry you felt your... More

Great character hotel full interesting art. Hotel restaurant closed which added to the jaded overall feeling of Fitroy St with shops closed or looking run down. Room windows and blinds very dirty and dusty and unfortunately no hot water for our morning shower. Would recommend but rooms need a spring clean. Jane on reception was great.

This was my 3rd stay at Tolarno and once again there was no dissapointment. Booked 9 rooms for work so got the chance to see the full range of options available and know exactly which room to book in the future. The top floor 2-bedroom suites are perfect if you have 2-4 guests. Jane at the front desk is super... More

What a smashing one off place to stay. The hotel has such an individual style that you can't help but like it. Full of modern artwork and I admire the owners style. The room was a good size and I was pleased with the little touches like a umbrella in the wardrobe (it has been known to rain in Melbourne).... More

I based choosing this Hotel on the proximity of St Kilda's attractions. Also on the reviews by other T/A reviewers. Thanks to all of you that gave this Hotel a positive. It cemented my decision. I was not disappointed in any way. This Hotel is an absolute Gem. Yes it's an older Establishment... but has been renovated to provide all... More
