A quick getaway in a "local" suburb is a luxury and in this case a privilege. This hotel puts you right in the heart of St Kilda with pier, pubs and plenty to do right at your doorstep. The hotel is not a grande style, so if this is what your're looking for keep moving along. This gives you a... More

The spot is great if you want to be in the thick of it on fitzroy st. The Italian bistro downstairs looked lovely. Friendly and efficient check in, parking voucher ($7 round the corner) and lots of gorgeous art on the walls everywhere. The colour scheme is a touch bordello but the art helps. The rooms are a squeeze with... More

Hello jazzymama1, Thank you for your recent review. Tolarno's is in a great spot for those wishing to be in the heart of St Kilda. The hotel is unique, and as you say the artwork enhances the whole feel of the place. The rooms vary a lot in their shape and size but we too feel they have everything a... More

Great hotel, loved all the art works, parking just around the corner in secure lot. Trams just out the front door - although we heard nothing in our room which was near the rear of the property. Although the rooms are small, they have all you need.

Hi Pam S, Thank you for your review. It pleasing to hear you found the parking easy, in the undercover park we use around the corner. Leaving the car and using the trams is a much more relaxing way to get around Melbourne from St Kilda. Nice to know your room was quiet , which they do tend to be... More

Enjoyed this sanctuary in the heart of St Kilda. Staff were really friendly and helpful, room was comfortable, clean, and quiet, with everything that we needed. Beautifully comfortable beds. Hotel was within walking distance to anywhere in St Kilda. Good value for money.

Lovely hotel in a good location. The room was quite small but was adequate. Very helpful staff. Getting a cab from the hotel in the morning was an issue, took 40 minutes (tried phoning and using an app + waiting for an empty one to pass).

Hi Jon B, Thank you for your recent review. We are glad to hear Tolarno's met your needs. Unfortunately Melbourne taxis are not the best promotion for our city; I am sorry you had so much trouble getting one. I hope, if you are able to stay with us again, you have no transport issues. Kind regards, Jane More

A wonderful hotel - friendly staff with trendy atmosphere. Its location is perfect and it is only a 20min walk, along the beachfront, to the great St Kilda restaurants/cake shops (+ the one's nearby!) The cafe/restaurant was closed, being Easter, but it looked as though it would be up to standard too.

Hello W9937FMChris, We really appreciate you writing a review. It's good to hear you absorbed yourself in the artwork and atmosphere of the hotel, and the surrounding area. The European cake shops on Acland Street are a must see (and try) and yes, we have some very nice cafes near the hotel too! Hope to see you again if you... More

The Tolarno was my pick for a conference based in St Kilda (not at the Tolarno). It was a convenient place to stay with plenty of food options across the street and not far from the Esplanade. I had a standard queen room which was quiet and nicely painted. Being an older hotel, however, the spaces in the room were... More

Hello NJSydney, Thank you for your recent review. We are glad you chose Tolarno's to stay whilst at your conference. There are many places to eat and it's only a short walk to the Esplanade and waterfront. The hotel was originally built as a large home in the 1880's so the rooms vary in their shape and size - with... More

Older hotel but in good area close to pier and beach with transportation, restaurants and entertainment close by. 15 minute tram ride into Melbourne. Bathroom was newly renovated but awkward to use as not set up well. Shower door banged on sink edge; sink was small with glass shelf mounted on wall too low so that sink was not easy... More

Hello DonnaLea 123, Thank you for your recent review. We are pleased you liked the location and found it easy to access Melbourne's CBD, the beach and the surrounding area. Our bathrooms have been recently refurbished but the balcony bathrooms are small, as you say. When the hotel was purchased by the current owners some 17 years ago, the balcony... More

Stayed here for a night in February and was actually shocked to be honest. A number of problems; 1. The room we booked was unavailable even though the booking was confirmed by the manager weeks previously - we were actually informed that they had given the room to someone else. The hotel actually said we had arrived on the wrong... More

Dear Jared F, Thank you for your review. We certainly don't like to hear of any guests having a bad experience at Tolarno's so it is important, and we appreciate, hearing your feedback. I had the pleasure of spending a week there late January this year. My welcome was very warm and the advice and answers to all my questions excellent! Important for me that the hotel is clean and safe, and that it was! Thanks to all the staff for making my stay such a pleasant one!

Hi Skippy 2712 Thank you very much for your review. We really appreciate your comments and are glad to hear you felt safe at the hotel. The area is quite eclectic and there's often a lot going on outside. We have 24 hour reception so that does make the hotel guests feel secure. Thank you for appreciating our staff too!... More
