I stayed over Easter weekend. The front desk attendant Jane was very helpful in showing me where I was in Melbourne and how to get around. As I walked to the second floor I was immediately drawn to the stained glass window and the bright blue walls with paintings (took a few pics). While some may complain the room was... More

Hello John, Thank you very much for taking the time to write your review and also for your photographs of our newly renovated hallway. The artwork looks quite striking now, as it has been properly lit with our new spot lights. Glad to hear you found the standard room comfortable and spacious enough. We were very happy to install the... More

I stayed here for one night, would have liked to stay for longer. Very comfortable, affordable, very helpful and kind staff. Clean cosy and interesting art, with brave use of bold colours make this a really interesting place to stay. I was impressed to find in my room a red umbrella, along with ironing board, for when the Melbourne weather... More

Dear Sally, Thank you for your recent review. It’s always nice to hear when guests’ find our staff helpful. We want to make the experience at Tolarno’s as enjoyable as possible. Our housekeeping staff work hard and it is great to give them positive guest feedback, which I will pass on. During the last 2 weeks of March we completed... More

Stayed here a few nights at the end of February. Very well located hotel ideally situated for both St Kilda and also getting around the city. The tram stops are virtual next to the hotel, Service was excellent. The lady on the reception desk was so helpful and gave us many great tips for where to go, where to eat... More

The Tolarno is an "art hotel" in a very convenient location in St. Kilda's (the tram to the CBD and museums stops almost directly in front, cafes are a short walk away and the beach is about 5-10 minutes walk). Corridors and rooms are filled with art, and although simple, the rooms are comfortable and very clean with an electric... More

First the positives: the hotel is damn funky. Lots of artwork and cool furniture abound. The service at reception was friendly and helpful (although we didn't have any unusual demands!). Our balcony room was light and airy and spotlessly clean and I loved the pair of mid-century chairs and the gorgeous lamp (it's definitely my sort of aesthetic). The bar... More

Dear Natski_937 Thank you for your review earlier this month. Glad to hear you appreciated the decor, and enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel. Tolarno’s location is perfect for those wanting easy access to great restaurants, cafes and bars, not to mention the beach. Tolarno Hotel was built in 1800’s as a private home, and the balcony rooms were added... More

This hotel has a great location and is located on a busy street. There are lots of eating places in walking distance. It is just a short walk to St Kilda beach. The only downside is that it doesn't have its own car park so recommend you drop off luggage first before parking. Our room was small but very clean... More

stayed here with my daughter recently and we both really enjoyed our stay, The reception staff were very friendly, the location was great and I had the best night sleep I have had at a hotel in a long time. Only a short walk to the beach and luna park. Overall very happy and will defintely go back.

Stayed here over new year 2012-2013 and was reasonably priced for the time of year. Our room had an ample sized bathroom with shower. A double bed with a kitchenette part running down the side with fridge, sink etc. Bed was made and towels changed daily. Very clean, comfortable. Lots of great art work in the rooms and corridors and... More

Hello markad6971, Thank you very much for your recent review. The hotel is in a great location, the rooms are clean and adequate and it has great character. HOWEVER, don't choose a balcony room. Online they sell them as a "better" room but they look directly onto the main road which is very noisy and the doors/windows offer very little respite from the street noise. After the first sleepless night... More

Dear Olivia, Thank you for taking the time to submit your review. Very glad you enjoyed the location and the character of Tolarno’s. Our balcony rooms do take in the ambience of the street and with that comes the rumble of the trams and usual street noise. Fitzroy Street is a very lively street and for many people this creates...
