Dec 8, 2009 | Trip type: Family New

Our extended family stayed here when they came to Geelong for our wedding and we joined them for breakfast the day after and it was SO disappointing. The room according to family was OK. The breakfast, at $25 was not worth it at all, felt totally ripped off. The scrambled eggs were completely tasteless and bland, didn't even taste like... more

We have stayed at this hotel, on a number occassions throughout the last few years with the benefits of being close to Geelong City and the Bay, as well as having a restaurant down stairs for breakfast and dinner, very handy. The bar was nice too and open for snacks also; the children loved the hot chocolate! The food was... more

I stayed 2 nights in May on a business trip with little time to do much exploring around the Geelong area, but from what I saw, this hotel is ideally located, close (but not too close) to the main highway and walking distance to shopping and a multitude of eating options. The rooms are large and comfortable, decor is probably... more

This is our third stay at the Mercure in Geelong. It has goopd road access and is an easy stroll from the shops. It is an older hotel with good sized bedrooms and ensuites a reasonable restaurant and very friendly and helpful staff. The only downside is the parking, which is extra and limited, even though you pay you are... more

Stayed here for one night after travelling along the Great Ocean Road, the hotel is looking a little tired and the pool had no loungers to relax on and was quite 'concretey' and small. However we had booked a family room and even with a double bed and two single beds in it it was very roomy. there was a... more

For a $169 a night, i was to get a luxury room, with ocean views, and spa. What would you expect. From what the advertisement was saying I was expecting a decent view of the bay, not about 2 inches of water, and people thinking you were watching them swimming in the pool below, and a spa bath that was... more

We stayed at the Mercure Geelong thinking it was a 4 star hotel, under the impression that it would be above average, and also seeing descriptions 'recently renovated' etc, thinking it would be modern and stylish. The photos on the website are quite misleading. The decor is neutral colours but it was very dingy inside. Crumbly 70s ceilings and paint.... more

My partner & I stayed at the Mercure for one night at the start of August. We weren't planning to go anywhere but I got a good deal of $99 including breakfast so how could we resist?! The hotel has 7 levels and we stayed on the 5th floor. We got a room facing the Geelong side so all we... more

This is a pretty good hotel in the heart of Geelong, its quite outdated on the outside and the public areas except for the bar and restaurant. The room however has been reasonably well decorated and is quite pleasant with everything you need. The toilets are still quite outdated also. Its the only tall building in Geelong so there are... more
