Booked a two night stay on the weekend of 4th &5th July. We booked with friends, both booked standard rooms, all I can say is if you do book here , make sure u don't get room 306, I am sure it was a converted broom cupboard. Our friends on the other hand got room 313, wow what a difference,... More

I stayed here recently based on a recommendation of an old article from Gourmet Traveller magazine and because I have a fondness for old buildings. As instructed we dropped off our bags and drove around the block to the parking station, as our room wasn't ready we stored the bags and went off to explore Bendigo. The tourism information centre... Nice cosy restaurant with a great atmosphere. The staff are well trained and courteous. Meals are very tasty. The Carrot and ginger soup had way too much chilli though--had to get it watered down with milk!!

The Hotel Shamrock is a lovely, historic building, right in the heart of Bendigo. Location-wise, it's just about perfect for a weekend away, close to shops, pubs, and restaurants, and it oozes charm. The staff are helpful, welcoming, and friendly, and the rooms and decor are attractive. The shower was excellent, too, and it was nice to have tea and... More

I have stayed at the Shamrock many times over the years and continue to do so because it’s got character, great rooms ( as distinct from the converted nurses home up the hill that we stayed in recently because you were booked out), and your staff are great. The thing I particularly like is they treat you as a normal... More

Spent a night here with my husband and booked the large family suite as there are no King beds in this hotel so we had a double bed and 2 singles in the room, called Castletone suite. It was large but with absolutely no view whatsoever plus the windows had that obscure glass which made it pretty depressing...The bathroom is... More

My daughter and I stayed at the Shamrock on a Friday night in May as part of a visit to the Bendigo Regional Art Gallery for a photographic exhibition and of course some shopping, eating and generally enjoying ourselves. The hotel was great. We arrived well after reception had closed and were welcomed by the very friendly barman, who waited... More

Absolutely yum. i had read reviews on the shamrock high tea and wasn't confident that it was going to be good but what a surprise, it was lovely. I shared a high tea with my daughter and the cream was proper cream. When i booked i asked for no fish and a couple of days before our tea the shamrock... More

My wife and I stayed at the Shamrock Hotel mainly because of its central location. We went to a show at the Capital Theatre which is only a block away. Also plenty of eating places all within walking distance. We had a standard room for $150 including a generous buffet continental breakfast. Only thing missing in room was a chair.... More

Have known about the Shamrock for more years than I care to remember. It had its last major renovation in about 1981 - and it is beginning to show! However the grand old lady at 114 years old still provides comfortable accommodation at probably reasonable Aussie $ cost. We were in the Chas Thatcher Suite. While 'Suite' is just a... More
