The Shamrock's ambience is great - wrought iron, stained glass windows and imposing staircase (lift too) and it is very central to the railway, Bendigo Art Gallery and local restaurants. I asked for a quiet room and was given one. The room was dated but clean, generous sized, with all the facilities (TV, tea- making, reasonable hanging space, sofa) with... More

We just book the Shamrock on the spur of the moment with the deal of bed with spa and 3 course meal and cooked breakie for $274. Wow. The room even though small was well presented with queen bed large bathroom and corner spa. All rooms are named after important people of the Bendigo area. The meals were very nice... More

Stated here for a recent conference. Although the rooms could use a 'little makeover', this is more than compensated by the historic charm of the hotel. The hotel is full of history, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Could not be better located right in the middle of town and walking distance from just about everywhere. Shops, mall, restaurants,... More

I had booked a week ahead to get a table on the verandah for a lunch with some friends, when I arrived there was no record of my booking and I was told that "we aren't serving lunch on the verandah". We decided to stay and chose a table in the dining room, lunch was very disappointing, dry veal schintzel... More

This place takes you back to a bygone era of opulence and luxury. The staff are friendly and welcoming and more than willing to help with any request. The continental buffet breakfast is excellent, the showers warm, and the atmosphere friendly. The Sports Bar has budget meals that are generous and very well priced at $10 per meal, highly recommended.... More

Have stayed in the Shamrock twice in Bendigo. Each time the stay was perfect. Big rooms, heritage renovated and centrally located. They have a nice restaurant and it is centrally located to other restaurants and cafes. There is no long term parking so good fro overnight parking, but you must move your car during the day.

We are fair people who do not mind spending money for quality experiences, but the experience we recieved at Shamrock Hotel this weekend left ALOT to be desired. We are very disapointed in a number of things while we were staying at the shamrock hotel. We have stayed there before and loved it, so we were very shocked to have... More

The hotel is a grand old building with much history from the gold rush era. This hotel is in a good location and the staff are very nice but it wasn't worth the 4 star price. The bed was very springy and my partner and I both rolled toward the centre. The shower continuously went hot-cold. And the room took... More

We chose this place because it is so fantastically located, and is such an icon of the Goldrush era. I was pleased to find that it is a rare hotel that has spacious rooms that very comfortably fit a family of 4, with a queen and 2 singles. Our room was very clean, with a nice bathroom. Don't expect anything... More

Arrived here for dinner and was seated by a friendly staff member. We were given menus and left to peruse. Asked if we wanted a drink, we ordered and 20 minutes later no one had brought our drinks. I had to hail a waiter to ask her for our drinks. As she did not have our drinks order, it not... More
