I organised a weekend away to the Bendigo Writers Festival for my book group. We stayed at the Shamrock Hotel which is conveniently located in the centre of downtown Bendigo. We were pleasantly surprised with our accommodation, the decor was quite stylish, the rooms are a good size with modern en-suite facilities. Some of the girls shared a Superior Room... More

Booked this after reading reviews on TripAdvisor and also wanted to be near the CBD. Very historic hotel and not disappointed. Very clean rooms and helpful staff. Note that car parking can be an issue during the week and a small $7.00 per day fee is payable per 24 hours at the car park at the rear. Other than that,... More

This really is a grand old lady. Very impressive building. However, the grandness isn't matched inside. Everything looks and feels uncared for and dilapidated. Re stuffing chairs, a coat of paint and some TLC will go a long way. Nothing wrong with the bar, though:)

First room lacked space for 5 and heater wouldn't work. Spare bed not made up either and when we asked why, they said it was broken, but hadn't tried to fix the problem and I don't know what would have been done if we hadn't rung for help. In the end they gave us a much better room so happier... More

We had our grandson for a history tour of the Central Goldfields. It was fitting to stay in an historic hotel. We were in the Victoria Suite, and it was a quiet, comfortable and enjoyable room. Continental buffet breakfast was included and was more than adequate. We dined both nights in the hotel café, extensive menu and nice food. Would... More

Rooms were clean . Somewhat odd shaped room which made them awkward to move in. Bed comfortable. Windows double glazed. Ok checking in and out. No parking have to use council car park at rear which is locked and secured at night. But we stayed here because it was walking distance to wine bars and restaurants we wanted to visit... More

The photos of the hotel had us sold.Overall the building is magnificent, our rooms were at the rear of the hotel with no street views, but were still very comfortable, clean. The upstairs bar and verandah area are great. The dining options for breaky and dinner offered quite a good range. Service was a bit lack lustre not overly

The furnishings are old and well loved, the charm of the historic place is obvious. Shared a double room while on business, the single bed was a little worn, could feel innersprings. The provided breakfast selection was small but adequate.

Brilliant old hotel with modern rooms and conveniences. The staff are very helpful, the meals are delicious and a lot of the attractions of Bendigo are within walking distance. The rooms are generously sized and great for families or couples

A stay in Hotel Shamrock is a must for anyone visiting the Vic Goldfields. The team at Shamrock rescued and preserved this piece of Australian heritage at its best. Clean, comfortable and classy room. Very comfortable mattress. Great and well thought of bathroom facilities. Reasonably priced room service. Great and helpful receptionist staff.
