We couldn't afford to stay at the Shamrock as we were a party of three but we did book for a mid-week dinner in the downstairs restaurant. It is a huge, impressive space with bags of character and interesting history. The high ceilings and wood panelling suggested that the place had not been tampered with too much and so it... More

My wife and I stayed at the Shamrock over the recent Australia Day weekend. It was a wonderful venue full of old world feeling with ultra modern facilities, restaurant and bars. The room was very comfortable and quiet. The staff were courteous, professional and very helpful in sorting out a booking difficulty that was our fault. The full cooked breakfast... More

Being a fan of American style food I took the family to Yardbird to try it out after discovering it by accident. The food was, on balance, really really good. I could spend the whole review raving about the Fried Chicken, but I'll sum it by just strongly encouraging anyone to order it. It'd fabulous. Marinated in buttermilk so it's... More

We stayed at the Shamrock on a Monday night recently and being a Monday not all of the bars/restaurants were open which was a shame as we would of liked dinner on the balcony but it was also advantageous as I think the hotel could probably get a bit noisy at weekends as the bars are all open to the... What a surprise it was to find a Cajun/soul food restaurant in such a lovely old style hotel. The venue offers a relaxed elegant atmosphere and an amazing balcony experience. We were lucky enough to have a balmy night to enjoy on our first visit to Bendigo. Try to get a table on the balcony, great views of the town.... More

Stayed at the Shamrock over New Years 2014. Yes she looks a bit old in places, and yes she could do with a spruce up, but she reeks of charm. Wandering the halls and public areas of the hotel is just a fabulous experience. It does not take too much of a stretch to visualise what she may have been like... More

We booked two rooms, with the continental breakfast included, for one night. Although we paid the same price for each room, one was very spacious and comfortable whilst the other was very small. There was nowhere to unpack a bag in the smaller room except on the floor or on the bed; however there was a note on the bed... More

We had a mid-week stay and decided to stay at the Hotel Shamrock because it is in the centre of Bendigo and secondly, because it is like steppping back in time. We chose the Two night package with 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners. My first night I found a little hard to sleep, being on Williamson St, street noise and... More

My husband, my teenage son and myself went to the Shamrock for a late Sunday lunch and as always was greeted by a well presented friendly waiter, we were presented with two menus the bistro menu, which is where we usually eat, and a menu for the upstairs Americana style bar called The Yard Bird. We decided to give The... More
