Picked this pub by the look on my map on phone, what a great choice. The bistro was fully booked but the staff guided us towards the bar and said the meals are exactly the same and they where more happy to serve us there. Meals were spectacular and l am not kidding, wow blew us away. Got the chance... More

Was able to book a table here for NYE on reasonably short notice. Excellent range of beers and ciders. A nice menu, including a range of specials. Hubby and I both had pork belly for the entrée, which was so delicious and perfectly cooked. Then for main, both had the wagyu rump. Again, cooked really well and the sauces were... More

Finally visited this establishment on the 24th December, 2015 and it was well worth it. It has the usual pub fare but it has a more adventurous side to their menu. They also know how to cook a rare steak. The one thing I was disappointed about was I tried to order a chef's selection of the entree's and the... More

Drinks were ordered from the bar, House Red... More

Have only recently visited the Mallow this year. Being a local I feel that it was the biggest mistake ever not visiting earlier than I did. Quite simply my favourite place to go in Ballarat. I could have just a glass of water there and be quite content and happy. The pork, whether it be the Asian BBQ pork or... More

We had a great meal at the Mallow one Saturday evening recently. The large restaurant style room was busy but service was timely and attentive with two waiters working and 30 people there. I had poached duck with crispy skin in a mushroom jus with Asian flavours certainly an excellent meal. The other meals were all first class, desserts of... More

Went to The Mallow for a meal with a friend. I arrived to share her 'share platter'. The usual suspects all done well - although to my mind the ratio of sweetness to savoury was a bit wonky. Had a glass of the house red which was smooth and enjoyable. Had another one just to be sure I was right....... More
